This has been a tad upsetting. I specifically got the Steam version (for several reasons) with the hopes that I could play the game on January 23rd, the last day of my weekend before I work 7 days in a row (starting bright and early on the 24th). It’s a bummer to not be able to play on the 23rd after all.
I also can’t get my money back to re-invest in the PS3 / Xbox 360 version, which is too bad (though in the long run I’ll be glad I got it for PC, as I try to get any multi-platform game I possibly can in glorious PC-edition form - simply because the graphics my beloved Compwnter generates surpass the 360 and PS3 by so much).
I’m sure this delay is actually due to some mix-up on Valve/Steam’s end, not due to Double Fine. That said, it still sort of sucks.
One note: on Steam, I see a message still saying the game will be released January 23, 2013 - but below that there’s a message saying I must wait 23 hours. But if I wait 23 hours, it wouldn’t be the 23rd anymore - so which countdown is wrong? (I am on PST time, for what it’s worth).
Ron said on his Twitter that the PSN and WiiU versions for EU had been delayed for some reasons only Nintendo and Sony know. I guess there is an agreement with them that the Steam-version has to be released after their versions.
It says “Steam DRM” on the top of that page, so I think you’ll still get a steam code from Amazon. I pre-ordered the game at Greenman Gaming and received my activation key this morning. Still need to wait for it to unlock on Steam, unfortunately.
Even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to play the game before February, this is kind of a letdown. The Steam Page should tell me that it won’t be available until tomorrow, instead of me checking forums to realize I’m not alone with the issue.
