## Episode Transcript

15 secondsASIF: You know, there is only so much we could-- we could do.

17 secondsRight?

18 secondsPAUL: Have you played it much yourself?

19 secondsNo.

20 secondsNo, I haven't gone back and played it since, um...

23 secondssince the thing ended.

24 secondsRight now might be too soon.

26 secondsUm...

27 secondsI have accepted this as just who I am.

30 secondsI will always...

32 seconds...find some way to, like...

34 seconds...be negative about something.

36 secondsIt's a very complex emotion,

38 secondsbecause you come back to your real life after that.

41 secondsThat's that sort of feeling, like: "Yeah, that was amazing.

43 secondsAnd I have all these great pictures and videos of it, and...

47 secondsAnd then-- and then that's it, and then I'm never going back there.

49 secondsUm...

51 secondsThat's like a hard thing to deal with, so...

56 seconds\[SIGHS\]

57 seconds\[MUSIC\]

1 minute and 29 secondsTIM: It's time for Amnesia Fortnight!

1 minute and 31 secondsAll right! You only have two weeks. Get to work!

1 minute and 32 secondsI'm pretty much a baby at game design.

1 minute and 35 secondsSee that? Look at that.

1 minute and 36 secondsRight there. Look at that.

1 minute and 37 secondsI mean, I'm not sure it's going to work at all.

1 minute and 38 secondsAARON: Because everything depends on it pretty heavily.

1 minute and 40 secondsZAK: If the second screen does not work...

1 minute and 42 seconds...we don't have a game.

1 minute and 43 secondsNo pressure.

1 minute and 44 secondsDEREK: It's really good.

1 minute and 46 secondsIt all came together.

1 minute and 47 secondsOh my god, I'm so-- I'm so tired.

1 minute and 49 secondsBut... it's cool.

1 minute and 51 secondsTIM: All right. I'm going to start the intro.

1 minute and 54 secondsAre we ready to go live?

1 minute and 56 secondsIs everyone emotionally prepared to go live?

1 minute and 59 secondsHe-he-hello! Really, we are live? Okay.

2 minutes and 1 secondHello!

2 minutes and 2 secondsWelcome to the Amnesia Fortnight 2017 closing ceremonies!

2 minutes and 6 seconds-\[CHEERING\] -Now you can clap!

2 minutes and 8 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

2 minutes and 10 secondsYeah, it's exciting!

2 minutes and 12 secondsWe won't see everything you see, and you won't see everything we see, so.

2 minutes and 14 secondsEverybody in the audience can and should play along.

2 minutes and 18 secondsSo, you have to help Tim figure out what the hell he is supposed to do.

2 minutes and 22 secondsEverybody had the big, kind of cathartic play session with Tim,

2 minutes and 25 secondsplaying in that giant group, live on the stream.

2 minutes and 29 secondsZAK: And we are jumping rope.

2 minutes and 31 secondsReady!

2 minutes and 32 secondsOne!

2 minutes and 33 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

2 minutes and 38 seconds-One more, one more. -One more!

2 minutes and 40 seconds\[CHEERING\]

2 minutes and 44 secondsTIM: The whole time they were making that game

2 minutes and 45 secondsI heard rumblings of, like: "You are going to have to play this

2 minutes and 47 secondswhen it's over."

2 minutes and 48 secondsAnd I was like...

2 minutes and 50 secondsI knew they were going to try to make it as embarrassing as possible,

2 minutes and 52 secondsand that I would be, uh... the butt of it.

2 minutes and 55 secondsIt was an honor. I felt it was an honor to be...

2 minutes and 57 secondssomeone who they thought could take it.

3 minutes and 0 secondsIt was just a lot more physically demanding

3 minutes and 1 secondthan I realized.

3 minutes and 2 secondsI'm not really at my peak aerobic fitness right now.

3 minutes and 7 secondsAnd I was just, like--

3 minutes and 8 secondsGetting up and getting down, I was just, like--

3 minutes and 10 secondsI was not-- the big problem was not being embarrassed.

3 minutes and 12 secondsThe problem was just, like, not having a heart attack.

3 minutes and 14 secondsI was, like, all sweating.

3 minutes and 15 secondsLike: "Okay, and the puppet-- and this is-- and this is--"

3 minutes and 18 seconds\[GRUNTS\]

3 minutes and 19 secondsOkay... okay...

3 minutes and 21 seconds-Too late. -\[LAUGHTER\]

3 minutes and 23 secondsLast one.

3 minutes and 26 secondsEVERYONE: Churn!

3 minutes and 28 secondsChurn! Churn!

3 minutes and 30 seconds\[VOICES OVERLAPPING\]

3 minutes and 32 secondsZAK: A little more screaming than I think the game can support.

3 minutes and 35 secondsIt starts to get hard when it's that many.

3 minutes and 37 secondsAnd so, towards the end of the stream, I kind of had to get up close to Tim

3 minutes and 40 secondsand help, like-- coach him specifically,

3 minutes and 41 secondsbecause it was so overwhelming.

3 minutes and 43 seconds-ZAK: Faster, a little faster! -\[OVERLAPPING SCREAMING\]

3 minutes and 45 secondsSlower! Slow it down! Slow, slow, slow! Slow!

3 minutes and 48 secondsSlow!

3 minutes and 49 secondsSlow it down. Slow it down.

3 minutes and 51 secondsSlow it down, slow it down, slow it down.

3 minutes and 54 secondsSlower, a little slower than that. Even more slow.

3 minutes and 55 secondsFaster! Faster! Faster!

3 minutes and 57 seconds-\[SCREAMING\] -Keep going, keep going!

3 minutes and 59 secondsGo, go, go, go go!

4 minutes and 1 second\[SCREAMING AND CHEERING\]

4 minutes and 3 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

4 minutes and 8 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

4 minutes and 10 secondsI need a cigarette.

4 minutes and 11 secondsZAK: Everything worked really, really well.

4 minutes and 12 secondsSo, I was excited with how it was received.

4 minutes and 17 secondsTIM: Well, thanks guys!

4 minutes and 18 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

4 minutes and 20 secondsZAK: I hope the team is proud of all the stuff,

4 minutes and 22 secondshow it came out.

4 minutes and 24 secondsUm, there is, like, a huge amount of variety in there.

4 minutes and 28 secondsTIM: Zak McClendon and the I Have No Idea What I'm Doing team!

4 minutes and 30 seconds-Thank you! -\[CHEERING\]

4 minutes and 33 secondsZAK: Yeah, I think, uh, you know...

4 minutes and 35 secondsjust working closely with anybody like that,

4 minutes and 37 secondsyou form a more direct relationship and kind of understand what--

4 minutes and 41 secondshow they like to work, um...

4 minutes and 43 secondsand what you might be doing to annoy them.

4 minutes and 46 secondsAnd how you could possibly avoid those things in the future.

4 minutes and 48 secondsWell, you know, what I actually have is the Amnesia Fortnight survey results.

4 minutes and 52 secondsOh, yes!

4 minutes and 54 secondsCARYL: Uh, the ways leads could have done better.

4 minutes and 57 secondsBe less stressed out.

4 minutes and 59 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

5 minutes and 4 secondsTIM: Oh, you guys are a bunch of jerks!

5 minutes and 7 secondsPAUL: I'm surprised Caryl read all the feedback in the meeting.

5 minutes and 10 secondsMm-hmm.

5 minutes and 11 secondsPAUL: Did you know she was going to do that beforehand?

5 minutes and 13 seconds-Yeah. -PAUL: Okay.

5 minutes and 14 secondsI mean she is, um...

5 minutes and 16 secondsAs Caryl will, she'd...

5 minutes and 18 seconds...put out some stuff more bluntly than I would, just more straightforward.

5 minutes and 21 secondsBut I think that is fine.

5 minutes and 23 secondsUh, be less panicky, specifically about technical problems.

5 minutes and 26 secondsThat seemed to be something where leads were less, uh... panicky

5 minutes and 31 secondsabout design and scope problems,

5 minutes and 34 secondsand more panicky about technical hurdles that they didn't know how to overcome

5 minutes and 37 secondswithin the finite period of time.

5 minutes and 39 secondsPlease have less meetings...

5 minutes and 40 secondsZAK: A little harrowing at least it was for me.

5 minutes and 44 secondsI mean, definitely, um...

5 minutes and 45 secondsYou know, in retrospect,

5 minutes and 46 secondshaving watched the documentaries as they came out,

5 minutes and 49 secondsI wish I'd handled the stress of it better.

5 minutes and 51 secondsWell, no, I mean this is what you have to do.

5 minutes and 53 secondsI was super impressed with, uh... the whole tech team.

5 minutes and 58 secondsAnd, um... Amy and Aaron, and them pulling that stuff off,

6 minutes and 1 secondbecause there was a lot of pressure, and I had put a lot of pressure on them.

6 minutes and 5 secondsIt's one actor, it's this one actor call.

6 minutes and 6 secondsZAK: Building of the game is a much more strong memory

6 minutes and 8 secondsthan the game itself.

6 minutes and 10 secondsYou make the game, and the game goes out,

6 minutes and 12 secondsand it kind of just lives on its own,

6 minutes and 13 secondsand it's this thing that's external of-- to you.

6 minutes and 14 secondsBut the experience of making it is something that you live through.

6 minutes and 17 secondsAnd that becomes part of who you are.

6 minutes and 19 secondsAnd so making the making of it

6 minutes and 21 secondsa healthy, good environment, um... is super, super important to me.

6 minutes and 25 secondsUm, and... I'd like to do better at that the next time.

6 minutes and 29 secondsZAK: All right! Let's go get beers then.

6 minutes and 31 secondsWorks for me!

6 minutes and 32 secondsTIM: I mean, Amnesia Fortnight is definitely a pressure cooker,

6 minutes and 34 secondsand it tests people, but...

6 minutes and 36 secondseverybody learns something about themselves when they do it.

6 minutes and 39 secondsIf he learned anything from that that he wants to apply to Psychonauts,

6 minutes and 42 secondsI think that's a win for everybody.

6 minutes and 44 seconds-ZAK: Now it's your turn. -Oh, uh...

6 minutes and 46 secondsI have no idea what I'm doing it yet.

6 minutes and 48 seconds-Wrong game. -DEVIN: That was last week.

6 minutes and 49 secondsI'm sorry, Zak has ruined that for everyone forever.

6 minutes and 52 secondsZAK: I know, that's what I'm here for.

6 minutes and 53 secondsRuining things for everybody.

6 minutes and 54 secondsJEREMY: This is my first actual day back at work...

6 minutes and 58 seconds-PAUL: Hey. -DEREK: How's it going?

7 minutes and 0 secondsStep into Greg's office.

7 minutes and 3 secondsPAUL: It seemed like it went pretty great this time around.

7 minutes and 5 secondsDEREK: It went great!

7 minutes and 6 secondsI have no complaints at all. It was amazing!

7 minutes and 8 secondsBecause it's a-- It's a fun, little-- little prototype.

7 minutes and 12 seconds-Derek Brand! -Hello!

7 minutes and 13 seconds-Good to see you! How have you been? -Yeah, good to see you!

7 minutes and 15 secondsUm, how many people are going to be playing today?

7 minutes and 18 secondsUh... as many as we can get.

7 minutes and 19 secondsI think there is four people?

7 minutes and 20 secondsAnd they are going to be in the offices playing, network--

7 minutes and 23 seconds-Yes. -Okay.

7 minutes and 24 secondsDEREK: Yeah, it was...

7 minutes and 26 secondsI don't know, it was super fun to watch everyone play it

7 minutes and 30 secondsand, uh, try to make pots, and try to... smash each other.

7 minutes and 34 secondsUh, it was-- overall it was--

7 minutes and 36 secondsit was really cool.

7 minutes and 38 secondsThat was a good payoff moment.

7 minutes and 40 secondsTIM: So, one of your team can be just the--

7 minutes and 41 secondsOh, that's a nice view! Look at that!

7 minutes and 43 secondsDEREK: Yeah, are you watching the battle?

7 minutes and 44 seconds-TIM: That's crazy! -\[LAUGHTER\]

7 minutes and 46 secondsTIM: What happened there? What happened there?!

7 minutes and 49 secondsUh, some physics... fun.

7 minutes and 51 secondsYeah.

7 minutes and 52 secondsGREG: Can you make a really wobbly, weird one?

7 minutes and 54 secondsTIM: Yeah, make a bad one.

7 minutes and 55 seconds\[TIM LAUGHS\]

7 minutes and 56 secondsDEREK: If you make one really, like, uh, unstable looking...

7 minutes and 59 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

8 minutes and 1 secondDEREK: ...it'll kind of wobble.

8 minutes and 3 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

8 minutes and 6 secondsUh, I couldn't believe, um...

8 minutes and 8 secondswhat Kiln did as far as just, like:

8 minutes and 10 seconds"Hey, let's add this, one more feature that's super critical..."

8 minutes and 14 secondsAnd actually that's what the whole game is about.

8 minutes and 16 secondsIn the water.

8 minutes and 19 seconds-TIM: Oh, jeez. -DEREK: Oh, that is pretty good.

8 minutes and 20 secondsTIM: Oh, you got two.

8 minutes and 21 secondsLook, he made, like, a little dish!

8 minutes and 22 secondsIt's like a cat food dish!

8 minutes and 25 seconds-Oh, he hurt your guy! -No-o-o!

8 minutes and 28 seconds-DEREK: Denied. -TIM: Why is he so mean?

8 minutes and 29 secondsWhy is he so powerful?

8 minutes and 30 seconds-Is that because he made a low... -Yeah, it's very low.

8 minutes and 32 secondsAnd it has a lot of health because it's very wide.

8 minutes and 33 seconds\[TIM LAUGHS\]

8 minutes and 35 secondsOh, man! What a weird game you've made, Derek.

8 minutes and 38 secondsI know! It's so weird, isn't it?

8 minutes and 39 secondsI like that there is a lot of strategy here.

8 minutes and 40 secondsBecause I was like: "How is the pot gonna affect the battle?"

8 minutes and 43 secondsBut it seems like...

8 minutes and 44 secondsTIM: It was hilarious to watch Derek, because the--

8 minutes and 46 secondsthe first time he was a project leader, he was kind of like:

8 minutes and 47 seconds"Oh, god! I don't know. What can I do? I don't know if I can do this!"

8 minutes and 50 secondsAnd then he was like: "Oh, god! It's really hard, it's really hard!"

8 minutes and 52 secondsAnd then he, like, pulled through.

8 minutes and 53 secondsAnd everyone clapped for him,

8 minutes and 54 secondsand everyone cried watching the documentary.

8 minutes and 56 secondsHe was, like, this... underdog.

8 minutes and 57 secondsAnd, uh...

8 minutes and 58 secondsAnd he is still-- because he is so kind of soft-spoken

9 minutes and 1 secondand humble, he always seems like a perpetual underdog.

9 minutes and 4 secondsBut there was a little bit this time--

9 minutes and 6 secondsHe was kind of, like...

9 minutes and 6 secondsYou could tell he wasn't worried in a weird way.

9 minutes and 9 secondsIt was just really inspiring, I think, to see his confidence growing, and...

9 minutes and 12 secondsum...

9 minutes and 13 secondshim putting together an idea that is really well thought out.

9 minutes and 17 secondsThis is crazy. This is really good.

9 minutes and 19 seconds-This is really awesome. -It is very good.

9 minutes and 21 secondsWe got an amazing team.

9 minutes and 23 secondsDEREK: I'm just reminded of how much...

9 minutes and 25 secondsUh...

9 minutes and 27 secondsHow badass everyone is.

9 minutes and 29 secondsYou know, it's just, like, a reminder of, like:

9 minutes and 30 seconds"Holy crap! These are professionals."

9 minutes and 33 secondsUh...

9 minutes and 34 seconds"They are all amazing."

9 minutes and 35 secondsAnd, uh...

9 minutes and 36 secondsYeah, it's--

9 minutes and 37 secondsIt's a good reminder.

9 minutes and 39 secondsCARYL: Uh, you know, we asked for sort of, like, MVPs.

9 minutes and 42 secondsAnd really almost everyone got mentioned in one way or another.

9 minutes and 45 secondsMatt Enright, you probably got the most mentions.

9 minutes and 49 secondsWhere are you? Is he here?

9 minutes and 51 secondsNot here? Oh, there he is!

9 minutes and 53 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

9 minutes and 56 secondsTIM: It was a thing-- A lot of the feedback--

9 minutes and 58 secondsA lot of the thanks to different people was like:

9 minutes and 59 seconds"Thanks to so and so for putting all the crazy hours.

10 minutes and 1 secondAnd thanks to so and so for working all night long!"

10 minutes and 4 secondsAnd I, like... The purpose is, like...

10 minutes and 5 seconds"Okay, let's not use that terminology when we thank people."

10 minutes and 8 secondsBecause I don't want to glorify, like... crunch mode.

10 minutes and 12 secondsLike, I think, a lot of companies are like:

10 minutes and 13 seconds"Yeah, you gotta stay up all night! Blah, blah, blah, blah."

10 minutes and 15 secondsAnd that's just-- I don't think that's really healthy.

10 minutes and 17 secondsBut I also-- I don't know what the solution is.

10 minutes and 19 secondsBecause I don't want to ignore the people, you know, working really hard.

10 minutes and 22 secondsBut I don't want to send the message to everybody else that's like:

10 minutes and 24 seconds"By the way, you can't see your family for two weeks,

10 minutes and 26 secondsbecause you've gotta be here.

10 minutes and 27 secondsBecause other people are going to be here two weeks, and..."

10 minutes and 29 secondsBecause that's not really--

10 minutes and 30 secondsThat doesn't really fit with the company's values.

10 minutes and 32 secondsBut it is this limited time period... I don't know.

10 minutes and 34 secondsWe'll have to have some meeting and figure that out.

10 minutes and 36 seconds-WARD: "Uh-oh." -MIYUKI: "Uh-oh."

10 minutes and 37 secondsMIYUKI: Like, some of that?

10 minutes and 39 secondsCAMDEN: It's not, like, an open, destructive force.

10 minutes and 41 secondsAnd I don't think AF is destructive.

10 minutes and 43 secondsI don't think making video games is destructive, but, like...

10 minutes and 48 secondsYou can-- you can really get consumed by...

10 minutes and 52 seconds...what you...

10 minutes and 54 seconds...believe could be possible.

10 minutes and 56 secondsAnd you have to be-- you have to be careful.

10 minutes and 59 secondsI'm getting better at it, but...

11 minutes and 1 second...fuck.

11 minutes and 2 secondsAF destroyed me, man. It's, like...

11 minutes and 5 secondsI'm really glad I had the help I had.

11 minutes and 7 secondsLike, Steve and Paul are just amazing!

11 minutes and 10 secondsCARYL: And really the audio team, they got a bunch of call-outs as well.

11 minutes and 13 secondsThe audio really pulled it-- pulled it out of the hat for this one.

11 minutes and 16 secondsUm...

11 minutes and 17 secondsSeventy percent of you think Kiln should be turned into a game.

11 minutes and 20 secondsIt won overwhelmingly as the game that we should make.

11 minutes and 23 secondsDEREK: Oh! Oh, yeah! Yeah, that was awesome to hear.

11 minutes and 26 secondsThat people were like: "Yeah, let's make this thing!"

11 minutes and 29 secondsSo, that's exciting.

11 minutes and 30 secondsI mean, that's a-- That's just a fact.

11 minutes and 32 secondsIt's just a data point.

11 minutes and 34 secondsA lot of people wonder: "What happens now?"

11 minutes and 35 secondsYou know: "We finished it. Do we make games out of these or not?"

11 minutes and 38 secondsAnd a lot of it has to do with the project leader.

11 minutes and 39 secondsLike, the project leader-- if they just can't stop thinking about it

11 minutes and 42 secondsand they keep, like: "Hey, I was working on that game a little bit, and..."

11 minutes and 44 secondsIf they keep coming to talk to me about it.

11 minutes and 47 secondsIt'll be clear that this game has more of a life.

11 minutes and 49 secondsAnd the project leader is really passionate about it.

11 minutes and 52 secondsAnd that we could keep-- keep working on it.

11 minutes and 54 secondsBut some of them got so much attention that you...

11 minutes and 57 secondsyou know, it'd be hard to, like, forget about them.

12 minutes and 0 secondsIt feels like a billion years ago to be honest.

12 minutes and 2 secondsLike, it's a...

12 minutes and 3 secondsIt happened really f--

12 minutes and 4 secondsIt... felt like it lasted forever.

12 minutes and 6 secondsAnd then, uh... it was over.

12 minutes and 8 secondsAnd it was only two weeks, so whatever.

12 minutes and 11 secondsAnd now it feels like it's been...

12 minutes and 13 secondsmonths since that, but it hasn't really.

12 minutes and 15 secondsPAUL: Have you thought about it much since?

12 minutes and 17 secondsUh, a little bit.

12 minutes and 19 secondsUh...

12 minutes and 20 seconds\[MUSIC\]

12 minutes and 22 secondsI've also been, like-- also just trying to focus,

12 minutes and 24 secondsget back into my normal day-to-day stuff.

12 minutes and 27 seconds\[MUSIC\]

12 minutes and 29 secondsDEVIN: It's a weird transition, um...

12 minutes and 31 secondsbecause my role shifts so much.

12 minutes and 33 secondsI'm no longer leading.

12 minutes and 35 secondsI'm now kind of back where I was before.

12 minutes and 37 secondsSo, that's taken some adjustment.

12 minutes and 39 secondsThe first few days especially were--

12 minutes and 41 secondswere kind of... strange

12 minutes and 43 secondswhen I was just having a hard time focusing.

12 minutes and 45 secondsAlso because I was still thinking so much about the AF project.

12 minutes and 49 secondsNew ideas that--

12 minutes and 50 secondsYou know, I still wasn't done thinking about where to take that project, so...

12 minutes and 55 secondsTook a little while for me to get refocused.

12 minutes and 59 secondsPAUL: Do you find yourself wanting to tell Zak what to do?

13 minutes and 1 secondNot more than I did before.

13 minutes and 4 secondsTIM: Let's start with Darwin's Dinner.

13 minutes and 6 secondsDevin Kelly-Sneed, please come sit in the hot seat.

13 minutes and 9 seconds\[CHEERING\]

13 minutes and 11 secondsTIM: Oh, look at that!

13 minutes and 13 secondsSo, how do you feel? How do you feel?

13 minutes and 14 seconds-I feel great! -Yeah, yeah, yeah?

13 minutes and 16 secondsDEVIN: And so, they have different traits.

13 minutes and 19 secondsLike being fast or slow.

13 minutes and 21 secondsTIM: Oh my god!

13 minutes and 23 secondsThis is crazy!

13 minutes and 24 secondsI feel really good.

13 minutes and 25 secondsI'm really proud of the game we made.

13 minutes and 27 secondsUm, and so it was fun to see it in it's kind of finished--

13 minutes and 32 secondsI mean, prototype finished, but, uh-- but the finished form.

13 minutes and 36 secondsNice!

13 minutes and 38 secondsWow!

13 minutes and 39 secondsI'm not going to make fun of Silvio anymore.

13 minutes and 41 secondsA little tiny baby! It's like a tiny baby!

13 minutes and 44 secondsGREG: He is really strong though!

13 minutes and 46 secondsReally strong little guy.

13 minutes and 47 secondsYep! So, yeah the traits are all independent of each other.

13 minutes and 49 secondsSo, like, being-- being small or big doesn't mean

13 minutes and 52 secondsthat it's easier to kill or less dangerous to you.

13 minutes and 55 secondsIt just changes how much food you get from it.

13 minutes and 57 secondsTIM: Oh my god! 93!

13 minutes and 59 secondsYou can do it! This is the unicorn that--

14 minutes and 0 seconds-GREG: Yeah! -TIM: Okay.

14 minutes and 2 seconds-\[CHUCKLING\] -Yes.

14 minutes and 4 secondsI feel like just after playing it a couple times,

14 minutes and 5 secondsI didn't quite yet figure out what my strategy should be.

14 minutes and 8 secondsThat game is all about feedback. And so, learning--

14 minutes and 10 secondsI think if I played it a couple more times, I would learn...

14 minutes and 12 secondshow to optimize it, so I could get past my limit,

14 minutes and 15 secondswhich is currently, like, the first day.

14 minutes and 17 secondsI haven't gotten past the first day in that game.

14 minutes and 19 secondsYou know, I actually haven't really seen any feedback.

14 minutes and 21 secondsUh...

14 minutes and 22 secondsother than...

14 minutes and 23 secondsum...

14 minutes and 24 secondsfrom when people in the office played it.

14 minutes and 26 secondsUm...

14 minutes and 27 secondsAnd some of that feedback was: "It's really hard."

14 minutes and 29 secondsI think I got-- I think I got the controls.

14 minutes and 31 secondsJust that-- I just didn't see--

14 minutes and 33 secondsLike, I didn't really get a sense for all the monsters, so I want to see--

14 minutes and 36 secondsDEVIN: We tuned it a little too difficult.

14 minutes and 38 secondsThe game changed drastically over the last,

14 minutes and 41 secondsI don't know, four hours of day ten.

14 minutes and 43 secondsWe didn't really have, um...

14 minutes and 46 secondsany way to-- to have a good sense of that.

14 minutes and 49 secondsBut at the end of the day I kind of had to just pick some numbers

14 minutes and 51 secondsand hope that they were right.

14 minutes and 53 seconds-TIM: That's crazy! -DEVIN: Yep!

14 minutes and 54 secondsTIM: That's awesome!

14 minutes and 55 secondsThat turned out pretty fun, man!

14 minutes and 57 seconds-Thank you! -Yeah!

14 minutes and 58 secondsAwesome, Darwin's Dinner!

14 minutes and 59 secondsPAUL: Do you find yourself missing the intensity of those two weeks?

15 minutes and 2 secondsOr are you glad to go back to the normal routine?

15 minutes and 6 secondsUh...

15 minutes and 7 secondsI'm not really missing it.

15 minutes and 8 seconds\[LAUGHS\]

15 minutes and 9 seconds\[MUSIC\]

15 minutes and 11 secondsI got some experience that I've never had before with leading.

15 minutes and 14 secondsAlso with kind of thinking through a pitch,

15 minutes and 17 secondsand a concept, and how to design a game.

15 minutes and 20 secondsSo, I definitely gained a whole bunch of experience, um...

15 minutes and 23 seconds...that was new to me.

15 minutes and 24 secondsPretty-- It was pretty awesome.

15 minutes and 26 secondsCAMDEN: And it's funny, because on this AF

15 minutes and 28 secondsmore than any other AF I've seen...

15 minutes and 31 secondsI was surprised.

15 minutes and 32 secondsI was surprised how people dealt with the pressure.

15 minutes and 36 secondsThis is kind of an all-new crew.

15 minutes and 38 secondsFor the most part.

15 minutes and 39 secondsIt's, like, forty or fifty percent...

15 minutes and 42 secondsis kind of new.

15 minutes and 43 secondsAnd so, like, getting to know these people, like...

15 minutes and 47 secondsyou just-- you get caught.

15 minutes and 48 secondsYou have to-- You have to realize it.

15 minutes and 51 secondsYou have to realize it with them.

15 minutes and 53 secondsI don't know... I mean, if you are a creative

15 minutes and 55 secondsor if you are into what we are all into.

15 minutes and 59 secondsLike, that's-- That's an intoxicating brew.

16 minutes and 2 secondsI think it'll be good on, um...

16 minutes and 5 secondsPsychonauts 2, especially, because I think--

16 minutes and 8 secondsI think a lot of people learned...

16 minutes and 10 seconds...uh, who you are working with.

16 minutes and 11 secondsAnd, like...

16 minutes and 13 secondsum, just what kind of people they are and...

16 minutes and 15 secondsSo, I think that's going to kind of solidify the team.

16 minutes and 22 secondsLook, Asif is behind the camera!

16 minutes and 23 secondsBack behind the camera.

16 minutes and 24 secondsLook at him over there.

16 minutes and 27 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

16 minutes and 30 secondsASIF: I don't know, I mean...

16 minutes and 36 secondsI'm trying to be practical about my excitement.

16 minutes and 38 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

16 minutes and 39 secondsUh...

16 minutes and 40 secondsIt's weird to...

16 minutes and 43 seconds...be the subject of something after shooting docs for so long.

16 minutes and 48 secondsUm...

16 minutes and 49 secondsI don't-- when I see myself in the thing,

16 minutes and 52 secondsI don't really see that as me in a weird way.

16 minutes and 54 secondsI don't know if that makes any sense,

16 minutes and 56 secondsbut, like, it just feels like something that happened to some other person.

16 minutes and 59 secondsSo, I'm glad that, you know, people who watched it

17 minutes and 2 secondsgot something out of it.

17 minutes and 3 secondsUh...

17 minutes and 4 secondsI can't really reconcile the person that they are talking about with myself.

17 minutes and 7 secondsHe was playing for the crowd though.

17 minutes and 9 secondsYou could tell, in his interviews he was like:

17 minutes and 11 seconds"How can I-- How can I work this?"

17 minutes and 13 secondsYeah, the people--

17 minutes and 14 secondsthe project leaders always seem like they are right on the edge of crying.

17 minutes and 17 secondsIt's more fun to watch, right?

17 minutes and 19 secondsASIF: Uh, I mean, sometimes.

17 minutes and 20 secondsI get a lot of people asking me about...

17 minutes and 24 secondsyou know, whether or not I'm okay.

17 minutes and 26 seconds\[LAUGHS\]

17 minutes and 27 secondsLike that day that Ryan wasn't there.

17 minutes and 28 secondsLike, I allowed that to sort of get the best of me

17 minutes and 31 secondsand sort of, like, psych me out a little bit.

17 minutes and 33 secondsUm...

17 minutes and 34 secondsThat part I remember being difficult.

17 minutes and 37 secondsASIF: I just wanted to, like...

17 minutes and 40 secondsI don't know, do something that I thought was--

17 minutes and 42 secondswas big and special while I had the opportunity.

17 minutes and 44 secondsBecause these-- all these people will go back to making games,

17 minutes and 46 secondsand I never will.

17 minutes and 48 secondsASIF: Closer to the end when, like, we had our big review meeting...

17 minutes and 52 secondsThe level was done, and, like, machines were working, and, like...

17 minutes and 55 secondsWe were playing it in front of our team

17 minutes and 57 secondsand, like, you could hear people get excited about stuff.

18 minutes and 0 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

18 minutes and 2 secondsIt's just a little burnt.

18 minutes and 3 secondsASIF: That to me was very satisfying.

18 minutes and 5 secondsBecause I felt like I was beating myself up a lot

18 minutes and 8 secondsabout how much I was asking people to do.

18 minutes and 11 secondsI didn't know if I was creating this resentment or not or, like,

18 minutes and 13 secondsif... it was somehow demotivating for people to have that much to do.

18 minutes and 17 secondsBut, I think, in that meeting--

18 minutes and 19 secondsin that moment where people were seeing all the payoff,

18 minutes and 22 secondsit was nice to hear that people were still excited by it.

18 minutes and 24 secondsKEE: Oh-h-h...

18 minutes and 26 seconds...no-o-o!

18 minutes and 27 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

18 minutes and 29 secondsOoh, wow!

18 minutes and 31 seconds\[ASIF EXHALES\]

18 minutes and 31 secondsASIF: The best part of this whole thing was seeing the studio react

18 minutes and 35 secondsto the game actually being played on that last day, so.

18 minutes and 38 secondsAwesome! Well, hey! Look, you did it!

18 minutes and 40 seconds-You made a game, right? -Hi, yeah, we made a game...

18 minutes and 42 seconds-Oh, we'll see, we'll see, maybe. -...with an amazing team.

18 minutes and 44 secondsNo, it's a game. It's a beautiful game.

18 minutes and 46 secondsTIM: I like his asymmetric glove.

18 minutes and 49 secondsWhat the heck!

18 minutes and 53 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

18 minutes and 56 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

18 minutes and 57 secondsTIM: Holy cow!

18 minutes and 59 secondsExciting! Okay.

19 minutes and 2 secondsRail slides!

19 minutes and 3 secondsASIF: It had the intended effect.

19 minutes and 4 secondsLike, people were invested in the right moments,

19 minutes and 7 secondsin the moments that I'd hoped they would be.

19 minutes and 8 secondsLike you were saying, you know, when the doors opened up,

19 minutes and 10 secondseveryone was rightfully impressed by everything that they saw.

19 minutes and 13 secondsLike, the scope of it.

19 minutes and 15 secondsAnd the quality of the execution visually.

19 minutes and 18 secondsAnd then, just the fact that you could play through the round, I think.

19 minutes and 23 secondsI was very proud of the team.

19 minutes and 24 secondsAnd thankful for them for realizing the idea that I had to that degree.

19 minutes and 29 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

19 minutes and 34 secondsASIF: I think, if I'm going to take a look at this whole experience, um...

19 minutes and 39 secondsThat was really sort of the moment that I was aiming for.

19 minutes and 42 secondsJust because at a certain point I knew

19 minutes and 46 secondsthat we were not going to have time to really playtest the game.

19 minutes and 49 secondsSo, right away I was just, like, you know...

19 minutes and 54 secondsI had to make peace with the fact that...

19 minutes and 56 seconds...when your average person picks up this game,

19 minutes and 58 secondsthey are not going to have any idea what they are supposed to do.

20 minutes and 2 secondsSo, I'm really just hoping that...

20 minutes and 6 secondsthis playthrough in front of the team goes well.

20 minutes and 8 secondsAnd that there is video evidence of it,

20 minutes and 10 secondsbecause that is sort of, like, the only way that...

20 minutes and 13 seconds...anyone is going to get a sense of what this game could be,

20 minutes and 15 secondsis by watching a very tightly controlled playthrough

20 minutes and 17 secondsby someone that knows what they are doing.

20 minutes and 19 secondsAnd, luckily, on that day we had exactly that.

20 minutes and 21 seconds\[MUSIC\]

20 minutes and 22 secondsTIM: What can you do in two minutes?

20 minutes and 24 secondsYou might have time for a fishcake, I don't know.

20 minutes and 26 secondsASIF: You know, the clock was starting to count down.

20 minutes and 28 seconds-\[ASIF LAUGHS\] -Noodles!

20 minutes and 29 secondsTIM: Oh my god, you forgot the noodles in the ramen!

20 minutes and 31 seconds\[ASIF LAUGHS\]

20 minutes and 32 secondsIt's not ramen without noodles, Vic!

20 minutes and 35 secondsASIF: Just run back and hit the button. Don't worry about it!

20 minutes and 39 secondsASIF: If you dropped something, there was, like, a big reaction.

20 minutes and 41 secondsOr, like, if you fell into the lava, there was another big reaction.

20 minutes and 44 seconds-Oh my god! -\[SCREAMING\]

20 minutes and 47 secondsJust go the safe way, go the safe way.

20 minutes and 49 secondsASIF: People were getting really into whether or not Vic was going to finish it.

20 minutes and 52 secondsNine!

20 minutes and 53 secondsEight!

20 minutes and 54 secondsSeven!

20 minutes and 55 seconds-Oh! -\[CLAPPING\]

20 minutes and 56 secondsNicely done!

20 minutes and 58 secondsAh?

21 minutes and 0 secondsTIM: Wait!

21 minutes and 1 second\[CHEERING\]

21 minutes and 4 secondsASIF: People were applauding when he finally managed to deliver the goods

21 minutes and 7 secondsand, like, got a positive rating.

21 minutes and 9 secondsUm, so I think seeing that was-- was enough for me.

21 minutes and 13 secondsYep.

21 minutes and 14 seconds-Thank you, guys. -Thank you, Gods Must Be Hungry team!

21 minutes and 16 secondsAnd Asif, good job!

21 minutes and 18 secondsWell done, sir!

21 minutes and 19 secondsASIF: Uh, yeah. It was definitely a very just, like--

21 minutes and 21 secondsIt was sort of on, and then it was off.

21 minutes and 23 secondsAnd then, all of a sudden all these people here are team members

21 minutes and 27 secondson a different game now.

21 minutes and 28 secondsAnd, like, I have this weird memory where it's like:

21 minutes and 30 seconds"Oh, you were in this dream that I had Ryan

21 minutes and 32 secondswhere, like, we were making a game together.

21 minutes and 34 secondsAnd now you are just on Psychonauts again."

21 minutes and 37 secondsUh...

21 minutes and 38 secondsAnd, like, I pass by Brian in the hall now.

21 minutes and 40 secondsIt's, like, that was someone that, like...

21 minutes and 42 secondsFor a very intense period of time we had this very close working relationship.

21 minutes and 47 seconds-ASIF: Yes! -Unpoofed!

21 minutes and 49 seconds-I'm a goddamn genius! -Oh my god, we can hide anything now!

21 minutes and 51 secondsASIF: But now... there is, like, this huge distance between us again.

21 minutes and 54 secondsLike, where I'm behind the camera and, like...

21 minutes and 57 secondsHe is just working on the stuff that he is working on.

22 minutes and 0 secondsUm...

22 minutes and 1 secondAnd I don't know what he is doing day-to-day.

22 minutes and 2 secondsAnd he doesn't know what I'm doing day-to-day, so...

22 minutes and 6 secondsYeah, I don't know, uh...

22 minutes and 8 secondsTIM: Asif, you can't let those relationships go!

22 minutes and 11 secondsHow else are you going to build your empire?

22 minutes and 12 secondsPAUL: So, I have to ask this question with Asif here--

22 minutes and 15 secondsNo, I'm going to make this more uncomfortable for Asif.

22 minutes and 17 secondsThat's the main goal.

22 minutes and 18 secondsPAUL: I don't know, have you thought about having Asif work on P2 a little bit?

22 minutes and 23 secondsOh, well, Asif knows that we've thought about that.

22 minutes and 25 secondsWe have a...

22 minutes and 28 secondsbucky young intern build some levels for us.

22 minutes and 30 secondsRYAN: I think we are going to do that.

22 minutes and 32 secondsGAVIN: That seems like a great idea. Let's do it.

22 minutes and 33 seconds\[ZAK LAUGHS\]

22 minutes and 34 secondsANDY: Okay.

22 minutes and 35 secondsTIM: Asif has been kind of hard to keep down.

22 minutes and 38 secondsAnd trust me, we have tried.

22 minutes and 40 secondsWe have tried to keep Asif down with his ideas.

22 minutes and 42 secondsAnd he just keeps generating ideas.

22 minutes and 43 secondsIt's like a leaky hose, you just gotta plug him in somewhere,

22 minutes and 46 secondsso that all that-- all those leaks go somewhere.

22 minutes and 49 seconds-Right, Asif? -ASIF: Mm-hmm.

22 minutes and 50 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

22 minutes and 51 secondsLike, I also get a couple of people asking me

22 minutes and 54 secondswhether or not, like, I'm going to switch over,

22 minutes and 56 secondsand, like, start working on projects here.

22 minutes and 58 secondsAnd, like...

23 minutes and 0 secondsUh, like, Anna came up to me the other day

23 minutes and 2 secondsand she told me-- she was like:

23 minutes and 3 seconds"Asif, I had a dream where you quit Double Fine and 2 Player,

23 minutes and 6 secondsand you started your own game studio."

23 minutes and 7 secondsAnd I was like...

23 minutes and 9 seconds"I'm not even crazy enough to dream that."

23 minutes and 11 secondsNo, but it was awesome!

23 minutes and 12 secondsI mean...

23 minutes and 14 secondsPeople did amazing work.

23 minutes and 16 secondsThat they were excited about it and, like, gave me so much support...

23 minutes and 19 secondsUm...

23 minutes and 20 secondsThat's, like, something that I will never forget.

23 minutes and 22 secondsEven if I never get to do anything else again,

23 minutes and 24 secondsI will always have this.

23 minutes and 25 seconds\[MUSIC\]

23 minutes and 28 secondsYeah.

23 minutes and 30 secondsMade a game.

23 minutes and 32 secondsFor a little bit.

23 minutes and 33 seconds\[MUSIC\]

24 minutes and 6 secondsOkay, now I'm going to slouch.

24 minutes and 8 secondsThis is what I learned about being on camera.

24 minutes and 9 secondsThis always looks good.

24 minutes and 10 secondsASIF: Can you clap in front of your face, Tim?

24 minutes and 14 seconds\[PAUL LAUGHS\]

24 minutes and 15 seconds-Right now? -ASIF: Mm-hmm.

24 minutes and 17 secondsAll right, this has been Tim Schafer with Amnesia Fortnight.

24 minutes and 19 secondsThank you for watching.

24 minutes and 21 secondsUh, come back, uh... in two years when the games will be...

24 minutes and 25 secondsAsif's great comeback.

24 minutes and 27 secondsHe's going to make a multiplayer combat game.
