## Episode Transcript

13 secondsTIM: ...rid of the price.

14 secondsDoes anybody-- Like, you'll see a horrible price,

15 secondsand then you type in the code, and it'll be free.

18 secondsCARYL: And everyone should plan on going to the awards.

21 secondsI don't know if you guys heard,

22 secondsthere is some guy here, he is getting some award.

24 seconds-CARYL: We are going to go cheer for him. -TIM: I need your votes to win that thing.

27 secondsI gotta cut out the other competition.

29 seconds-CARYL: Yeah. -Yeah, yeah, thank you.

31 secondsTIM: That was a-- That was a weird period.

32 secondsBecause you are like: "Are you talking to my doctor?

34 secondsWhy-- what do I need to know?"

36 secondsUm, and also, I was being kind of grumpy about it.

39 secondsBecause, like, you want to win...

41 secondsIn some ways, you want to win an award for...

43 seconds"Oh, you really nailed..."

44 secondsLike, Game of the Year. That's nice.

47 secondsAre you just some old, you know, figurehead

49 secondsthat people feel they need to--

50 seconds\[CHUCKLES\]

51 secondsLike: "Let's just pat him on the back, because he is going to die soon."

55 seconds\[MUSIC\]

1 minute and 27 secondsZAK: Do you want to just do something interesting there?

1 minute and 29 secondsOr do you want to do a waterfall?

1 minute and 31 secondsJAMES: It's pretty linear. Well, extremely linear.

1 minute and 33 secondsI'm, like, afraid to talk to...

1 minute and 36 seconds...Zak.

1 minute and 37 secondsANNA: Wait, I understand what you are getting at.

1 minute and 38 secondsZAK: I know, I know, but I'm just trying to visualize it.

1 minute and 40 secondsRYAN: The shapes of that foliage

1 minute and 41 secondswork really, really well there as well by the way.

1 minute and 44 secondsTIM: Progress is being made, but I don't know

1 minute and 46 secondsif we are still on that exact same schedule.

1 minute and 49 secondsTIM: Happy Holidays! The holidays are over!

1 minute and 51 secondsIt's time for work now!

1 minute and 53 secondsNo more fun!

1 minute and 54 secondsWake up!

1 minute and 56 secondsUm, don't worry, I'll grow my beard back later.

1 minute and 59 secondsJust had to--

2 minutes and 0 secondsJust-- I can't find it.

2 minutes and 1 secondI'm going to-- I lost it around my house somewhere.

2 minutes and 2 secondsBut I'm going to find it and put it back on.

2 minutes and 4 secondsHi, everybody! Welcome back!

2 minutes and 5 secondsThank you for coming back to work here!

2 minutes and 7 secondsUm, I hope you had lovely holidays.

2 minutes and 9 secondsZAK: Uh, we sent out our Fig update.

2 minutes and 10 secondsUh, and also announced the delay,

2 minutes and 12 secondsthat we are not coming out this year, 2018.

2 minutes and 14 secondsUm, and people covered that delay.

2 minutes and 16 seconds-What?! -What?

2 minutes and 17 secondsI'm the last to hear about this.

2 minutes and 18 secondsZAK: Yeah, I know. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

2 minutes and 20 secondsUh...

2 minutes and 21 secondsWhich the response largely seemed to be: "Yeah, we figured."

2 minutes and 24 seconds-\[LAUGHTER\] -ZAK: There was no great betrayal.

2 minutes and 28 secondsZAK: No one seemed very angry.

2 minutes and 29 secondsIt was like: "Yeah, that seems-- That seems reasonable.

2 minutes and 31 secondsThat seems about right for that game."

2 minutes and 33 secondsUm, we will be getting sort of the next big third

2 minutes and 35 secondsof the game stood up end-to-end.

2 minutes and 36 secondsAs well as, uh, focusing on, um-- Now that we've got kind of, like,

2 minutes and 40 secondsour base combat experience in and working pretty well,

2 minutes and 43 secondsactually starting to make some new AIs,

2 minutes and 45 secondsand trying to finish up the first pass of all the powers,

2 minutes and 48 secondsand gadgets, and things like that.

2 minutes and 51 secondsEnemy...

2 minutes and 54 seconds...role.

2 minutes and 56 secondsWhat is this enemy's role in combat? What do they do?

2 minutes and 59 secondsIt's pretty straightforward, but it is, like--

3 minutes and 0 secondsIt's very easy to lose sight of-- of, like...

3 minutes and 2 secondsYou will do a better job of developing an enemy,

3 minutes and 4 secondsif you know kind of what is their primary function.

3 minutes and 6 secondsGeneric melee fighter.

3 minutes and 8 secondsUm, there is things like a tank.

3 minutes and 10 secondsUm, so, with that being said, we need to actually decide...

3 minutes and 15 secondsTBD #1 - Complex Enemy.

3 minutes and 20 secondsFor my inclination, I would rather do right now, like, a tank style enemy.

3 minutes and 24 secondsLike, a big enemy. The shield carrier, basically.

3 minutes and 26 secondsWho has, like, got a big, giant defensive shield.

3 minutes and 28 secondsAnd it's standing in front of other enemies.

3 minutes and 30 secondsAnd you've got the shieldy dude is upfront,

3 minutes and 32 secondsand then, some support characters who are lobbing range stuff,

3 minutes and 35 secondsand you are trying to get around the shield guy, and... yep.

3 minutes and 38 secondsI'm just trying to think of-- I mean, the tank guy.

3 minutes and 41 secondsIt's just-- I-- I still, like--

3 minutes and 42 secondsHonestly, the way that we designed Psychonauts was

3 minutes and 44 secondswe did the thing that you don't like.

3 minutes and 45 secondsWhich is we took a theme, and then we tried to, um...

3 minutes and 49 secondsthink of all of the possible things within our gamer vocabulary,

3 minutes and 52 secondsand how we could make that work.

3 minutes and 54 secondsA tank character just, like--

3 minutes and 56 secondsUntil I understand its purpose--

3 minutes and 58 seconds-Like, I understand its-- its-- -Thematically, you mean.

4 minutes and 0 secondsLike, every single game that we've ever worked on

4 minutes and 2 secondswhere we had enemies that fought you,

4 minutes and 5 secondsit was always-- theme was primary.

4 minutes and 8 secondsLike, and it was-- it was--

4 minutes and 10 secondsIt made it so-- so interesting to think of it.

4 minutes and 12 secondsI mean, the thing about that is, like...

4 minutes and 14 secondsThat methodology, specifically for Psychonauts,

4 minutes and 16 secondslike, did not result in a very robust combat experience.

4 minutes and 20 secondsUm, and I think it's important to have more behavioral variety.

4 minutes and 23 secondsAnd I totally believe you can do both.

4 minutes and 26 secondsIt's just you have to keep those fundamentals in mind.

4 minutes and 28 secondsWhich is where I'm trying to start from.

4 minutes and 29 secondsWe are-- we are going to embark on doing a tank, uh, enemy.

4 minutes and 33 secondsSo, what would-- what would that be? What would it look like?

4 minutes and 35 secondsWhat is the tank enemy itself?

4 minutes and 37 secondsLike, I don't really have a very good idea right now.

4 minutes and 40 secondsYeah, I mean, that's what we are going to be doing next.

4 minutes and 41 secondsANNA: Oh, okay. So, that's just the next brainstorm.

4 minutes and 44 secondsZAK: Uh, no. We are going to start doing silhouettes.

4 minutes and 46 secondsAnd we'll start developing, like, theming as we go with it.

4 minutes and 48 secondsAnd we'll come up with something

4 minutes and 50 secondsthat works behaviorally at a very low level.

4 minutes and 51 secondsAnd I think it will be pretty basic.

4 minutes and 53 secondsAnd then we'll start talking about themes.

4 minutes and 54 secondsAnd then we'll start making it more complicated on top of that.

4 minutes and 56 secondsI have a pretty fundamental belief that you sort of work from the bottom up

5 minutes and 0 secondswhen making gameplay, and you make the fundamental stuff work.

5 minutes and 3 secondsIt doesn't have to be lockstep.

5 minutes and 5 seconds-Because otherwise we would get stuck. -No, no. It doesn't.

5 minutes and 6 secondsI just wanted to point out that it is a departure

5 minutes and 9 secondsfrom how we've typically designed things at Double Fine.

5 minutes and 12 secondsAnd Psychonauts might not be a great example of that.

5 minutes and 15 secondsBut Brütal Legend is.

5 minutes and 17 secondsWe-- knowing what roles we wanted, we looked at their drawings, and...

5 minutes and 20 secondsWhich is what I want to do in the future.

5 minutes and 22 secondsWe just don't have that time right now.

5 minutes and 24 seconds(Okay.)

5 minutes and 26 secondsZAK: All right. Okay, cool.

5 minutes and 29 secondsThank you, everybody.

5 minutes and 31 secondsTUCKER: Are we going to start iterating on these?

5 minutes and 32 secondsZAK: Yeah, I mean, it seems like the right thing to do.

5 minutes and 35 secondsANNA: Every person on the team needs to feel

5 minutes and 37 secondsthat they have creative input into the thing that they are working on.

5 minutes and 40 secondsAnd because-- what that does is it--

5 minutes and 43 secondsit engenders emotional investment into-- into the game.

5 minutes and 47 secondsIt's almost like, you know--

5 minutes and 48 secondsSome of the best creative leads, and Tim is among them, are people who...

5 minutes and 52 secondsThey create the world,

5 minutes and 53 secondsand they want you to just fall in love with it.

5 minutes and 56 secondsAnd what that means is that, like...

5 minutes and 58 secondsYou can create your own little, like, you know--

6 minutes and 1 secondyou can carve out your own little place in that world

6 minutes and 3 secondswith your own ideas that kind of work within it.

6 minutes and 5 secondsAnd, like, you can feel like: "Oh, man! I love this world!

6 minutes and 8 secondsBecause, look! I have this little place where I--

6 minutes and 10 secondsThis is-- this is the thing that I have worked on!

6 minutes and 13 secondsThis is what I contributed to it!"

6 minutes and 14 secondsZAK: That's, like...

6 minutes and 15 secondsThere is the one where it's, like, once you have defeated the shield--

6 minutes and 18 secondsThat's all you have to do--

6 minutes and 20 secondsANNA: Someone who is, like, you know...

6 minutes and 24 secondsin a-- in a position of power, especially, like, creative power, like,

6 minutes and 28 secondsI think it's really, really important to let people...

6 minutes and 33 secondsfeel like they are contributing their perspective to something.

6 minutes and 37 secondsAnd have-- like, give them that emotional investment in the game.

6 minutes and 40 secondsLike, because, I think, without that it becomes, like, just a rote process

6 minutes and 45 secondswhere you are just going through the motions,

6 minutes and 47 secondsand you are not really invested in what you are doing.

6 minutes and 52 secondsAnd that just destroys you creatively.

6 minutes and 56 secondsANNA: This is very, very early setup.

6 minutes and 57 secondsI'm still working on quite a number of things.

7 minutes and 0 secondsUh...

7 minutes and 1 secondThe distances are not so good.

7 minutes and 4 secondsYou can-- you can target the shield.

7 minutes and 6 secondsYou should be able to TK it. I'm working on that.

7 minutes and 8 secondsUm, but for the time being...

7 minutes and 10 secondsyou can also kill him, and he has his animation set up to, uh...

7 minutes and 14 secondsEventually he will die here.

7 minutes and 15 secondsZAK: No-o-o!

7 minutes and 18 seconds-ZAK: Poof! -ANNA: And there you are, guys.

7 minutes and 20 secondsZAK: Ya-a-ay!

7 minutes and 22 secondsGAVIN: Uh, next is Cassie.

7 minutes and 24 secondsFeedback for play paths, Shanghai, moving platform zone prototype.

7 minutes and 27 secondsOh, yeah, this is-- So, this stuff is ink.

7 minutes and 30 secondsBEN: Right? Because-- so, our water in this level is based on ink.

7 minutes and 33 secondsIt looks really cool. You can kind of see some of the...

7 minutes and 36 secondsUh, where it kind of butts up against the shore there,

7 minutes and 38 secondsyou can see some of the lettering underneath it.

7 minutes and 40 seconds\[MUSIC\]

7 minutes and 42 secondsThat's from Tazio. It's really good looking.

7 minutes and 44 secondsPAUL: So, why are you at the office right now?

7 minutes and 48 secondsSCOTT: Searching for... answers.

7 minutes and 54 secondsPAUL: What's the question?

7 minutes and 55 secondsSCOTT: I mean, I love being here for that. I mean, I do--

7 minutes and 59 secondsThat's my favorite thing is to be able to hang out with Tim, and stuff.

8 minutes and 2 secondsBecause-- and, you know, go grab lunches with him,

8 minutes and 4 secondsand go on strolls with him, because that's-- that was, like...

8 minutes and 8 secondsThat was some of my favorite times, you know.

8 minutes and 10 secondsLike, we-- you know, we talked a lot about life as well.

8 minutes and 14 seconds\[SCOTT CHUCKLES\]

8 minutes and 16 seconds\[MUSIC\]

8 minutes and 25 secondsSCOTT: It's been cool being here.

8 minutes and 27 secondsBecause I've been able to, like, sit down on meetings, and kind of see the progress

8 minutes and 31 secondswith, like, the-- the effects, and different animations, or whatever.

8 minutes and 36 secondsAnd kind of see firsthand, rather than just from far away.

8 minutes and 39 secondsWhich really helps me.

8 minutes and 41 secondsAll right! So, Scott, we are going over the levels today, yeah?

8 minutes and 45 secondsYes!

8 minutes and 47 secondsSCOTT: Okay.

8 minutes and 49 secondsThe only thing I'd say, it seems like the germs wouldn't build...

8 minutes and 53 secondsLike, this-- Like, actual buildings like this.

8 minutes and 56 secondsLike, what would be a germ building?

8 minutes and 58 secondsLike, if you stepped on this city...

9 minutes and 0 secondsIt'd be so gross! It'd be, like...

9 minutes and 2 seconds-\[SCOTT MAKES A SQUISHING NOISE\] -\[GEOFF CHUCKLES\]

9 minutes and 3 secondsBut right now, if you step on it, you'd be like:

9 minutes and 5 seconds"Ow! What the fuck! What's up with all this shit in my shoe?!"

9 minutes and 8 secondsYou know, like, or like: "Someone left all their toys in my shoe."

9 minutes and 10 secondsOr something like that.

9 minutes and 12 secondsRather than, like, stepping on this-- squishing this city.

9 minutes and 15 secondsJEREMY: The stuff that would grow in a Petri dish kind of.

9 minutes and 17 seconds-Yeah! Exactly! -Just fuzz and...

9 minutes and 19 secondsLike, yeah, exactly! Maybe there is fuzz.

9 minutes and 22 secondsLike, fuzz buildings. Or there is, like, jello buildings.

9 minutes and 25 seconds-Or everything is just gross! -\[GEOFF LAUGHS\]

9 minutes and 29 secondsOh, I think-- I think--

9 minutes and 30 secondsWell, I think that's the cool thing about everyone.

9 minutes and 32 secondsEveryone is a professional here.

9 minutes and 35 secondsSo everyone takes criticism real well!

9 minutes and 37 secondsYou know, and everyone wants to be-- it to be better, so.

9 minutes and 41 secondsIf you kind of just say: "Oh, yes, this could look more like this."

9 minutes and 44 secondsOr: "This would look better this way."

9 minutes and 46 secondsI mean, I know I like it whenever someone says that.

9 minutes and 49 secondsI would hope that everyone else feels that way,

9 minutes and 51 secondsbecause it's better if everyone kind of is honest about how they feel about it.

9 minutes and 56 secondsLike anything.

9 minutes and 57 secondsLike in a relationship or something, right?

10 minutes and 0 secondsIt's better to just be honest, you guys.

10 minutes and 2 seconds-GEOFF: Cool. -Yep.

10 minutes and 3 secondsOh, do we want--

10 minutes and 5 secondsShould we show the Peter Chan stuff today? Or...

10 minutes and 8 secondsGEOFF: No, no.

10 minutes and 9 secondsOkay, yep, that's kind of what we got so far.

10 minutes and 12 secondsUh, Peter did a new dump for Hollis recently.

10 minutes and 15 secondsSo, if you want to check that out on the forums.

10 minutes and 16 secondsFor Hollis' inside?

10 minutes and 17 seconds-Yeah, in her mental world. -Cool.

10 minutes and 19 secondsBecause we are not really sure what that is yet.

10 minutes and 21 secondsSCOTT: Yeah, because-- I saw a lot of that stuff,

10 minutes and 22 secondsbut you are still-- it's in flux that stuff...

10 minutes and 24 secondsGEOFF: Yeah.

10 minutes and 26 secondsSCOTT: Cool.

10 minutes and 27 secondsJAMES: Uh, we went...

10 minutes and 30 seconds...back to the drawing board a little bit in terms of the concept of the level.

10 minutes and 33 secondsUh, still hoping to rescue as much of the actual...

10 minutes and 36 seconds...physical space we've designed as possible.

10 minutes and 39 secondsLISETTE: What is the design problem we are trying to solve?

10 minutes and 43 secondsHigh-level concept for the level.

10 minutes and 45 secondsOkay...

10 minutes and 46 secondsSo, we need a theme for her brain when she is not in a casino?

10 minutes and 51 secondsOh, wait, I didn't know that's what we are talking about!

10 minutes and 52 secondsThe theme for her brain when we are not in a casino?

10 minutes and 54 secondsSo, the casino is an invading force in her brain.

10 minutes and 57 secondsUh...

10 minutes and 58 secondsWe won't explain it like this in the game, but it is essentially like--

11 minutes and 1 secondIt's like a virus, right? Because it's not actually part of her.

11 minutes and 3 secondsIt is something artificial that Raz has let loose upon her brain.

11 minutes and 6 secondsSo, we thought giving a really concrete space

11 minutes and 8 secondsfor the first half of the brain would make it very cool and clear later on

11 minutes and 10 secondswhen that's being infected by the casino stuff.

11 minutes and 14 secondsTIM: I thought hospital was kind of cool.

11 minutes and 16 secondsBecause it's so weird to see a casino and a hospital.

11 minutes and 18 secondsPeople on life support, but the machine is, like, a slot machine.

11 minutes and 20 secondsAnd, like... \[TIM MAKES SLOT MACHINE NOISES\]

11 minutes and 21 secondsAnd they are flatlining based on what's rolling--

11 minutes and 23 secondsOr, like, instead of operating tables, there is, like, roulette tables.

11 minutes and 26 secondsAnd they are just-- the doctor just spins a roulette table and is like:

11 minutes and 29 seconds-"Oh, black..." -RYAN: "Nurse!"

11 minutes and 30 seconds-"Hand me the dice!" -TIM: "Nurse, code red!"

11 minutes and 32 secondsTIM: "Hand me the dice!"

11 minutes and 33 seconds\[TIM LAUGHS\]

11 minutes and 36 secondsOh, the more messed it gets, the more I like it.

11 minutes and 39 secondsJEREMY: We talked with Tim, like, in an actual brainstorm.

11 minutes and 42 secondsHe was in that one.

11 minutes and 43 secondsAnd we came up with hospital.

11 minutes and 45 secondsAnd people seemed to like that idea.

11 minutes and 47 secondsPAUL: Hospital / Casino?

11 minutes and 48 secondsHospital / Casino.

11 minutes and 49 secondsBut, yeah, the idea of mashing of a hospital into a casino is pretty--

11 minutes and 52 secondsor vice versa, is pretty exciting.

11 minutes and 54 secondsI can just kind of imagine it.

11 minutes and 55 secondsLike, who the people are, and the feel of walking through the level.

11 minutes and 59 secondsNow I just have to build it.

12 minutes and 1 second\[MUSIC\]

12 minutes and 6 secondsGEOFF: Uh...

12 minutes and 8 secondsWhat about Cassie?

12 minutes and 10 secondsUh, but, like, you would come in here.

12 minutes and 13 secondsUh, which is actually this entrance piece up here.

12 minutes and 16 seconds-GEOFF: So, imagine... -SCOTT: Oh, that's awesome.

12 minutes and 17 secondsGEOFF: This is the 2D drawing that you are actually running through.

12 minutes and 20 secondsThat's so cool!

12 minutes and 21 secondsSCOTT: I love this part!

12 minutes and 22 secondsDude, torn up pages! Oh, that is cool!

12 minutes and 25 secondsBut this is awesome! I love-- pfft, oh my god!

12 minutes and 29 secondsShe is going to be a two-dimensional character.

12 minutes and 32 secondsWe are thinking about doing, like, this sort of stuff.

12 minutes and 35 secondsWhere it's, like-- Cassie will be, like, here.

12 minutes and 37 secondsMm-hmm.

12 minutes and 38 seconds-Cassie! -Mm-hmm.

12 minutes and 39 seconds-She'll just be like: "Hey!" -That's the best!

12 minutes and 42 secondsYou could-- if she ever does walk, she goes:

12 minutes and 44 seconds\[SCOTT MAKES A RIPPING NOISE\]

12 minutes and 45 seconds-Rips around. -Oh, yeah! Like...

12 minutes and 47 seconds\[MUSIC\]

12 minutes and 55 secondsBEN: This is some stuff that just went in.

12 minutes and 57 seconds-Wow! -Yeah.

12 minutes and 58 secondsBEN: So, it's really hard to see right now,

13 minutes and 0 secondsbut those are "WANTED" posters with Cassie's face on it.

13 minutes and 3 secondsUh... and so, that would be a really cool...

13 minutes and 5 secondsJP: So, your quest is to stop the presses?

13 minutes and 7 secondsZAK: Oh-h-h!

13 minutes and 9 secondsZAK: It is getting dangerously close to, uh, reaching Full Playable.

13 minutes and 13 seconds(And then we'll make everyone play it.)

13 minutes and 16 seconds\[MUSIC\]

13 minutes and 17 secondsZAK: Um, Ben is here!

13 minutes and 18 seconds-Hi! -Because we are doing a HoF.

13 minutes and 20 secondsAnd Ben has been doing a bunch of stuff

13 minutes and 22 secondsto sort of get it closer to the ideal of Full Playable,

13 minutes and 25 secondsincluding putting some combat in it.

13 minutes and 26 secondsUm, so, I invited him to be here while we look at it and, uh...

13 minutes and 29 secondsSo, that's all the stuff that's going on, uh...

13 minutes and 32 secondsBut-- so, first we are going to look at Wendy.

13 minutes and 33 seconds-Where are we? -Yeah.

13 minutes and 34 secondsZAK: But the flying is working really well now.

13 minutes and 37 secondsANNA: She actually dodges if you try to shoot her as well.

13 minutes and 39 seconds-Oh! -Whoa-ow!

13 minutes and 40 seconds-Whoa-ow! -Whoa-ow!

13 minutes and 42 secondsANNA: Yeah, there you go!

13 minutes and 43 seconds-Pew! -Hey, look at that!

13 minutes and 46 seconds\[ZAK MAKES HIGH PITCHED NOISES\]

13 minutes and 48 secondsANNA: And now she actually won't be able to hit you,

13 minutes and 49 secondswhich is kind of funny.

13 minutes and 51 secondsZAK: Well, I mean, it is cool, because she won't be able to hit you.

13 minutes and 54 secondsBut, like, somebody like-- like Bertha would totally squash you.

13 minutes and 56 secondsAnd so, it's an attack that works more interesting in combination.

13 minutes and 58 secondsThat's awesome.

13 minutes and 59 secondsYeah, like, once we have, like, you know--

14 minutes and 1 secondIf there is something else we want to put in there,

14 minutes and 3 secondsa different type of projectile.

14 minutes and 5 seconds-Like, that would do something. -That she could do.

14 minutes and 6 secondsZAK: Yeah, I mean, well--

14 minutes and 7 secondsBecause that's an easy and quick thing for us to put together.

14 minutes and 9 secondsYes! I would rather have the things--

14 minutes and 11 secondsLike, she does a lot of stuff.

14 minutes and 12 secondsAnd I'd rather spend more time getting the things she does working better

14 minutes and 15 secondsand being better, than adding--

14 minutes and 17 secondsLike, I don't-- I don't think, like, the thing that's wrong with her is that

14 minutes and 19 secondsshe doesn't do enough stuff right now.

14 minutes and 21 secondsANNA: Sure. I only meant for Friday.

14 minutes and 24 secondsIt would make her cooler.

14 minutes and 25 secondsIt would make her a cooler enemy than she is right now.

14 minutes and 28 secondsLike, her other attacks are interesting to us,

14 minutes and 30 secondsbecause we solved the technical challenge.

14 minutes and 32 secondsBut as far as the player is concerned, they are just melee attacks.

14 minutes and 35 secondsThere is nothing really that unique about them.

14 minutes and 38 secondsUm, and so, I thought that it would be interesting to actually do that--

14 minutes and 41 secondsLike, I mean, I thought that that's what we were going with for the pitch.

14 minutes and 45 secondsAs we've discussed, that I wanted to try to, like--

14 minutes and 47 secondsLet's have her do one thing first, and make that readable and work well.

14 minutes and 50 secondsAnd then we can add--

14 minutes and 51 secondswe can try having it be a bunch of different things.

14 minutes and 53 secondsWe can have a bunch of different Wendys that do a bunch of different attacks.

14 minutes and 55 secondsUm, but not that we are going to have

14 minutes and 58 secondsone character that does a bunch of different statuses all at once.

15 minutes and 2 secondsUm, that was where--

15 minutes and 3 secondsThat was where we were headed in that initial discussion of it.

15 minutes and 6 secondsAnd we can definitely try that later. It's just, like...

15 minutes and 8 secondsIt feels like we have a crazy, new shrink attack in the game.

15 minutes and 12 secondsAnd all I'm saying is it would be nice to get that working

15 minutes and 15 secondsmore fully front to back realized, and sort of readable for the player.

15 minutes and 19 seconds-Before we add a second one, um... -Okay.

15 minutes and 21 secondsZAK: I mean, if it was a specific thing where it's like:

15 minutes and 23 seconds"I think it would be really cool if we did Blah!"

15 minutes and 25 secondsLike, we could try doing that, but we are at the point where the first one is--

15 minutes and 29 seconds\[MUSIC\]

15 minutes and 31 secondsAm I in the way?

15 minutes and 32 secondsPlease stop working.

15 minutes and 33 secondsFun is mandatory for the next hour.

15 minutes and 35 secondsBefore you come and get food, make sure you are downloading the build.

15 minutes and 38 seconds\[MUSIC\]

15 minutes and 53 secondsGREG: Paper related. I was just--

15 minutes and 54 secondsBecause I feel like, uh, the theming

15 minutes and 56 secondsacross the whole level was really on-brand for Psychonauts.

15 minutes and 59 secondsIt felt really cool, uh...

16 minutes and 1 secondIt felt fresh and different than the other ones, but similar.

16 minutes and 3 secondsAnd the ways that the kind of paper world stuff worked,

16 minutes and 6 secondsum, I think, specifically,

16 minutes and 8 secondsthe 2D sections felt really Psychonautical,

16 minutes and 10 secondsuh, and interesting to me.

16 minutes and 13 secondsZAK: Um... combat.

16 minutes and 14 secondsAny, uh, impressions or thoughts?

16 minutes and 17 secondsThere was, um...

16 minutes and 18 secondsBasically, every enemy that we have in the game is in there right now.

16 minutes and 20 secondsUh, in a pretty early state,

16 minutes and 22 secondsbut, um, any impressions that people have about those?

16 minutes and 26 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

16 minutes and 29 secondsIt looked like I was being shrunk in the middle of an explosion.

16 minutes and 32 secondsAnd I was super tiny, and I wasn't--

16 minutes and 33 secondsI just-- you know, obviously, it's early visually.

16 minutes and 35 secondsI wasn't sure what was going on there.

16 minutes and 36 secondsZAK: Okay.

16 minutes and 37 secondsAnd I wasn't sure what negative it had,

16 minutes and 39 secondsbecause it shrunk the enemy I was fighting too.

16 minutes and 41 secondsSo, I was-- I was kind of going like:

16 minutes and 42 seconds"Oh, we are going to kill each other as miniature dudes."

16 minutes and 44 secondsZAK: All right.

16 minutes and 45 secondsTIM: Thank you, Psychonauts 2 team!

16 minutes and 47 secondsYay! Awesome!

16 minutes and 49 secondsZAK: Uh, and thank you, everyone, for playing.

16 minutes and 52 secondsPlease do fill out the survey.

16 minutes and 53 secondsAnd thank you, especially, for the Cassie team.

16 minutes and 56 seconds\[TIM HUMS\]

16 minutes and 57 secondsHey, everybody! Good to see you!

16 minutes and 59 secondsHey, congratulations on that Cassie level! Good job! Well done!

17 minutes and 1 second-Yay! -TIM: Well done. Well done!

17 minutes and 3 seconds-It's done. -BEN: Yep, ship it.

17 minutes and 5 secondsZAK: Um, so, that level is going to get finished up

17 minutes and 8 secondsby representative art this week more or less.

17 minutes and 10 secondsUm, and that team is moving on to kick off a new level.

17 minutes and 12 secondsWhich is the Gristol level.

17 minutes and 13 secondsSo, that'll be our first new level we've kicked off in a while.

17 minutes and 16 secondsWhich will be great.

17 minutes and 17 secondsZAK: The level is going to be really exciting.

17 minutes and 19 secondsIt's sort of a-- It's a Small World, propaganda,

17 minutes and 22 secondsRussian Fabergé egg... extravaganza.

17 minutes and 26 secondsEMILY: How are we going to do these dark rides, man?

17 minutes and 30 secondsI don't know, um...

17 minutes and 34 secondsEMILY: Hm.

17 minutes and 35 secondsUh...

17 minutes and 36 seconds-It's gonna be hard. -WILL: Yep.

17 minutes and 38 secondsWell... I mean, if it was easy...

17 minutes and 40 secondsWILL: I was thinking the ride would be more like this thing

17 minutes and 42 secondsthat just takes you to the rooms.

17 minutes and 45 secondsAnd there is, you know, things to look at,

17 minutes and 47 secondsand we kind of make sure the camera is at a good angle in it.

17 minutes and 50 secondsIt tells a little bit of story,

17 minutes and 51 secondsbut for the most part it's a vehicle, you know.

17 minutes and 54 secondsBEN: Right.

17 minutes and 55 secondsSo, when you need--

17 minutes and 56 secondsYeah, when an amusement park needs to tell a story...

18 minutes and 0 secondsLike, there is only-- yeah--

18 minutes and 1 second-EMILY: It's a dark ride. -BEN: Yeah, that happens--

18 minutes and 3 secondsThat's Pirate of the Caribbean, right? Like, so, there you go!

18 minutes and 7 secondsWe are looking at this.

18 minutes and 8 secondsNow we are looking at this.

18 minutes and 9 secondsBEN: Right. Well, the-- You know, I think--

18 minutes and 11 secondsI think the secret is going to be... presenting it once in a cinematic

18 minutes and 16 secondsthe way it's kind of quote, unquote: "meant to be seen."

18 minutes and 18 secondsAnd then, letting you run around,

18 minutes and 20 secondsand go backstage, and knock stuff over, basically.

18 minutes and 23 seconds\[MUSIC\]

18 minutes and 36 secondsJEREMY: Yeah, just-- just that the--

18 minutes and 38 secondsThe architecture to him didn't feel like something that--

18 minutes and 40 secondsthat germs would be building.

18 minutes and 42 secondsBut not like there is poky LEGO pieces, um...

18 minutes and 46 secondsRYAN: I thought that that was the point. And it's not literally supposed to be

18 minutes and 48 secondslike somebody is going to put their foot in the shoe,

18 minutes and 50 secondsand you are going to step on LEGO Pieces.

18 minutes and 52 secondsJEREMY: Right, I think the scale--

18 minutes and 53 secondsThe scale is very hard to convince with--

18 minutes and 56 secondsThis is something we-- we struggled with here.

18 minutes and 58 secondsReally? I feel like it is doing really well.

19 minutes and 0 secondsI think we got it to a pretty good point, but it's, um...

19 minutes and 3 secondsYeah, but Scott just said he really liked the germ language.

19 minutes and 7 secondsAnd kind of seemed like, um...

19 minutes and 10 seconds"Why would we want to look at any of the other stuff

19 minutes and 12 secondswhen the germs are-- have such-- such neat oddities."

19 minutes and 16 secondsMy answer to that would be:

19 minutes and 17 seconds"If you didn't have the contrast, they wouldn't be as interesting."

19 minutes and 20 seconds-Yeah. -GEOFF: Yeah, yeah.

19 minutes and 22 secondsYeah...

19 minutes and 23 secondsRYAN: But, uh, you know, I wanted to give--

19 minutes and 26 secondsWe wanted to give a brief overview of this to everybody,

19 minutes and 29 secondsbecause we realized we hadn't done it, um, for everybody on the team.

19 minutes and 32 secondsSo, like, you know, probably programmers, gameplay engineers, uh...

19 minutes and 36 secondsand, uh, yeah, audio folks may not have seen this.

19 minutes and 39 secondsUm...

19 minutes and 40 secondsBut just a really quick run-through of what our phases are.

19 minutes and 42 secondsWe are going to talk about, um, all of the phases that we have,

19 minutes and 45 secondsum, that levels are going to go through.

19 minutes and 47 secondsAnd then we'll run-through, um, overall, like,

19 minutes and 49 secondswhat the deliverables and goals are for the phases up to pre-Alpha.

19 minutes and 55 secondsFord Bowling is our example.

19 minutes and 58 secondsFord Bowling is in that phase right now, right? Yes.

20 minutes and 1 secondYes, actually, yeah, it's almost through that phase right now.

20 minutes and 4 seconds-I'm helping. -\[LAUGHTER\]

20 minutes and 7 secondsANNA: I guess, like, there is, uh...

20 minutes and 8 secondsThere is also, like, the full-on bosses. Is that something--

20 minutes and 11 secondsWe are not going to do bosses right now.

20 minutes and 13 secondsWe are going to do bosses in the game,

20 minutes and 15 secondsbut not at this-- at this stage.

20 minutes and 17 secondsIs it the case that the narrative is kind of taking a backseat

20 minutes and 21 secondsto the-- you know, the action path, combat stuff?

20 minutes and 25 secondsRYAN: No, not necessarily.

20 minutes and 26 secondsWell, because we had a level in, um, you know--

20 minutes and 29 secondsin the original Psychonauts that was entirely reliant on script.

20 minutes and 32 secondsLike, you could not have the level without it.

20 minutes and 34 seconds-Sure. -ANNA: Which is, like, the theater level.

20 minutes and 35 secondsRYAN: Yep.

20 minutes and 37 secondsFor instance, like-- So, are all our-- all of our levels--

20 minutes and 39 secondsI mean, it seems to be coming in, like, that aspect of the process is quite late.

20 minutes and 43 secondsCompared to... how it's usually done, I guess, for us.

20 minutes and 47 secondsHmm, I don't think so.

20 minutes and 48 seconds-RYAN: I mean... -(Okay.)

20 minutes and 50 seconds-RYAN: No. -(Okay.)

20 minutes and 57 secondsCool. All right. Thanks, everybody.

20 minutes and 59 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

21 minutes and 4 seconds-Uh, Amy. -AMY: Yes.

21 minutes and 6 seconds-You were working on a thing. -Mm-hmm.

21 minutes and 8 seconds-ANDY: Want to show the thing? -Mm-mm, I'm delegating.

21 minutes and 11 secondsANDY: Oh, you are delegating? Okay.

21 minutes and 13 seconds-\[LAUGHTER\] -ANDY: Standing in for Amy...

21 minutes and 15 seconds\[MUSIC\]

21 minutes and 56 secondsTUCKER: Anna! Anna! I need a hug.

22 minutes and 2 secondsAARON: ...trying to debug that.

22 minutes and 3 secondsAnd then probably spend the rest of the day crying.

22 minutes and 5 seconds\[CHUCKLING\]

22 minutes and 8 secondsAnna! No!

22 minutes and 10 seconds-BRIAN: Just like: "Oh, it's cry o'clock" -JEREMY: Just another day.

22 minutes and 12 secondsTUCKER: Can you put that in Jira? Just log your hours.

22 minutes and 15 seconds-Put a task. -Two hours.

22 minutes and 16 seconds"Two hours crying."

22 minutes and 18 seconds-"Crying at desk." -Anna!

22 minutes and 21 secondsANNA: You know, it's always the saddest thing to see people leave.

22 minutes and 24 secondsIt's, like, it's just-- It's just absolutely devastating.

22 minutes and 28 secondsUm, and I, uh...

22 minutes and 31 secondsIt's-- it's really strange to be the one leaving.

22 minutes and 36 secondsBecause it's-- it's devastating in a way

22 minutes and 39 secondsthat it's just, like, you are doing this to yourself.

22 minutes and 41 secondsAnd you don't even know: "What if it's a huge mistake?"

22 minutes and 44 seconds-Ugh, what the fuck! -\[PAUL LAUGHS\]

22 minutes and 47 secondsJust thinking about it... \[ANNA LAUGHS\]

22 minutes and 48 secondsTIM: But she had a great opportunity, at a big company.

22 minutes and 51 secondsThat is, I think-- It's something that's hard to pass up.

22 minutes and 54 secondsAnd, I mean...

22 minutes and 55 secondsWas it seventeen years she ended up working here?

22 minutes and 58 secondsOr sixteen years?

22 minutes and 59 secondsYou know, I only worked at LucasArts for ten years.

23 minutes and 0 secondsYou know, you can't, um...

23 minutes and 2 secondsShe is like: "I feel really bad telling you this."

23 minutes and 4 secondsAnd I was like: "You gave us many, many years.

23 minutes and 6 secondsYou know, you don't really-- You don't, obviously, owe us anything."

23 minutes and 9 secondsUm, sticking it out of the company-- This is not, like, you know,

23 minutes and 11 secondsthe fifties where you work at IBM until you die.

23 minutes and 14 secondsBut, you know, people working at a company--

23 minutes and 16 secondsI thought ten years at Lucas was a long time.

23 minutes and 18 secondsBut she worked here many, many years.

23 minutes and 19 secondsAnd, um-- and she'll be back. Obviously.

23 minutes and 22 secondsI think it's obvious that she is going to come back.

23 minutes and 23 secondsNo, I mean she is--

23 minutes and 25 seconds\[CHUCKLES\]

23 minutes and 26 secondsShe has worked here many years, and she is still a friend of the company,

23 minutes and 28 secondsand if she ever wants to come back, she can come back.

23 minutes and 30 secondsI'm so grateful for even being hired here and how that's...

23 minutes and 35 secondsbeen the most wonderful thing to have happened to me in my life.

23 minutes and 38 secondsLike, I say that, like, unequivocally.

23 minutes and 40 secondsBut I also just kind of...

23 minutes and 44 secondsneed a little... change.

23 minutes and 46 secondsLike, I've been here for a very long time.

23 minutes and 49 secondsAnd... I don't really know what else... is possible.

23 minutes and 53 secondsWhat else is, like, out there.

23 minutes and 54 secondsAnd I think I just need to see for myself.

23 minutes and 56 secondsZAK: And, uh, Anna, if you thought you could escape...

23 minutes and 58 secondsEverybody who does not know, it is Anna's last day today.

24 minutes and 1 second-It's not the big deal! -ANNA: I'll be here on Monday.

24 minutes and 3 secondsYou'll be here on Monday.

24 minutes and 4 seconds-And this weekend. -ZAK: And we can make a big deal out of--

24 minutes and 6 seconds-ZAK: And this weekend, apparently. -JEREMY: Oh, no!

24 minutes and 7 secondsZAK: And we'll make a big deal out of it then.

24 minutes and 9 secondsBut it also is your last day, officially, on the Psychonauts 2 team.

24 minutes and 12 secondsAnd at Double Fine.

24 minutes and 13 secondsThis is my last Psychonauts 2 meeting.

24 minutes and 16 secondsKEE: I know-- I know we are not doing the big deal thing today.

24 minutes and 18 secondsWe'll do it on Monday. But I'm like: "This is the--

24 minutes and 21 secondsI get to-- I get to say something!"

24 minutes and 24 secondsTIM: Speech, speech, speech!

24 minutes and 25 seconds-EMILY: Stand! -Speech!

24 minutes and 27 secondsSo, you know, we basically started on the same day.

24 minutes and 29 secondsKEE: So, we basically started the same day.

24 minutes and 31 secondsSo we've known each other for, and have worked together for...

24 minutes and 35 secondssixteen years?

24 minutes and 37 secondsANNA: Like, this was our first job we were so crazy about.

24 minutes and 41 secondsLike, we were so, so passionate about it!

24 minutes and 43 secondsAnd we-- we were really young, and we grew up together.

24 minutes and 46 secondsIn a very real way, like, it feels like he is my brother, in a lot of ways.

24 minutes and 50 secondsKEE: So, you know...

24 minutes and 51 secondsYou know someone for that long, it's--

24 minutes and 53 secondsIt's sad to see your-- your friend-- your friend go.

24 minutes and 58 secondsPAUL: And you yourself were away for a period of time.

25 minutes and 1 second-I was, I was, I was. -PAUL: Tim brings that up a lot.

25 minutes and 4 secondsSo, this was after... right after Psychonauts.

25 minutes and 7 secondsUm...

25 minutes and 8 secondsYou know, there were-- I think, you know, working on that game--

25 minutes and 11 secondsIt was-- It was a very hard game to make.

25 minutes and 13 secondsIt really wore me.

25 minutes and 14 secondsIt was something that was really satisfying to-- to go through,

25 minutes and 17 secondsbut then, afterwards, you just ended up being pretty burnt out.

25 minutes and 20 secondsUm, and, you know,

25 minutes and 22 secondsvarious other factors made me think about looking somewhere else.

25 minutes and 25 secondsUm...

25 minutes and 26 secondsAnd I think when you spend that time away from this company, you kind of...

25 minutes and 30 secondsI think you-- you really get a sense of where you belong in this industry.

25 minutes and 34 secondsAnd what it is that, uh, you value, and what is kind of important to you.

25 minutes and 37 secondsWhere you work, and what you do.

25 minutes and 39 secondsAnd, uh, I think, that's what solidified for me.

25 minutes and 42 secondsWhen I was away, I was like: "This-- this is--

25 minutes and 44 secondsThis is the place I want to be,

25 minutes and 45 secondsand these are the kind of games I want to be making."

25 minutes and 48 secondsSo, I-- That's-- then I was--

25 minutes and 50 secondsI came back to work here.

25 minutes and 51 secondsAnd-- and, coincidentally, it was sitting right next to Anna.

25 minutes and 55 secondsI know she is almost always, like,

25 minutes and 56 secondsthe first person that goes out and says 'hi' to someone.

25 minutes and 59 secondsAnd if there is anyone that I point to, like:

26 minutes and 1 second"How do you define, like, what the heart of Double Fine is, or what the cul--"

26 minutes and 5 secondsI just had this question today: "What is Double Fine's culture like?"

26 minutes and 7 secondsI could kind of explain, but not quite, and I thought:

26 minutes and 10 seconds"Anna could-- could say what that is."

26 minutes and 12 secondsI think he is the reason why I'm just like:

26 minutes and 13 seconds"Okay, Kee is here. It's-- It's okay. He'll take care of everything."

26 minutes and 17 secondsWe'll kidnap you from where you are going.

26 minutes and 19 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

26 minutes and 21 secondsAnd, um...

26 minutes and 23 secondsI want to say: "Best of luck in the next thing that you do."

26 minutes and 26 secondsBut I don't have to, because I know you are going to do amazing.

26 minutes and 28 secondsSo, thank you.

26 minutes and 29 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

26 minutes and 33 secondsANDY: That's it. That's this week.

26 minutes and 34 secondsTune in next week week, when we close out the sprint.

26 minutes and 38 secondsSee you there!

26 minutes and 40 seconds-I'm Andy Alamano, good night. -\[LAUGHTER\]

26 minutes and 45 seconds-ANNA: You have to keep it together! -Mm-mm.

26 minutes and 47 seconds-Never show-- never show-- never cry! -Never show emotion.

26 minutes and 49 seconds-Never cry, never cry, never cry. -Never show emotion, never show emotion.

26 minutes and 51 secondsThat was Tim's-- That was Tim's big advice for me.

26 minutes and 56 secondsKEIGHLEY: Ladies and gentleman, please welcome to the stage...

26 minutes and 59 secondsTimOfLegend!

27 minutes and 2 seconds-\[CHEERING\] -\[MUSIC\]

27 minutes and 16 secondsANNA: Uh, Tim won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

27 minutes and 19 secondsAnd he made this incredibly moving speech.

27 minutes and 22 secondsTIM: I mean, it's not, like, uh...

27 minutes and 24 secondsIt's weird when you talk about something,

27 minutes and 26 secondsbecause there is this weird involuntary, like...

27 minutes and 28 seconds\[GULPS\] ...in your throat.

27 minutes and 30 secondsAnd, um, you have to focus on your breathing.

27 minutes and 35 secondsI'm glad I broke that statue though.

27 minutes and 37 secondsKind of took the-- took the edge off.

27 minutes and 39 secondsOh, I broke the trophy.

27 minutes and 41 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

27 minutes and 47 secondsTIM: But as it-- as it went by, and it was really fun,

27 minutes and 49 secondsand it was just, um, a nice experience too, you know.

27 minutes and 53 secondsAnd I started feeling like I gotta be a lot more grateful about these awards.

27 minutes and 57 secondsEspecially Khris Brown, who is also sitting right here.

27 minutes and 59 seconds-Khris Brown, thank you so much! -\[CHEERING\]

28 minutes and 2 secondsThere are a lot of, uh, Double Finers here in the audience tonight.

28 minutes and 6 seconds\[CHEERING\]

28 minutes and 8 secondsThey are the loud ones in the back.

28 minutes and 10 seconds-Double Fine! -\[CHEERING\]

28 minutes and 12 secondsHey! There they are.

28 minutes and 17 secondsA special shout-out to the veterans

28 minutes and 18 secondswho worked at the company for sixteen, or seventeen years!

28 minutes and 21 secondsRay Crook, Dave Russell, Geoff Soulis, Kee Chi,

28 minutes and 23 secondsAnna Kipnis, Nathan Stapley, and the rest of you! I want to thank...

28 minutes and 27 secondsOh, yeah, and-- Yeah, of course, like, Tim--

28 minutes and 30 secondsTim thanked us, the old-timers, personally.

28 minutes and 34 secondsAnd that was...

28 minutes and 36 secondsYeah, I mean, that was really...

28 minutes and 40 secondsYeah, I mean...

28 minutes and 41 secondsThat really meant a lot.

28 minutes and 43 secondsIt was a-- it was a really nice bookend to my time at Double Fine.

28 minutes and 48 secondsUm...

28 minutes and 50 secondsBut...

28 minutes and 53 secondsTim is going to keep making games.

28 minutes and 54 secondsAnd, you know, hopefully I will too.

28 minutes and 56 secondsAnd so, it's not the end of everything, yet.

28 minutes and 59 secondsTIM: Uh, I want to thank you, all of you who came to the awards.

29 minutes and 2 secondsThat was really nice, because...

29 minutes and 3 secondsI was really nervous about going up there.

29 minutes and 5 secondsAnd I was worried that I was going to do

29 minutes and 7 secondssomething embarrassing like blubber on stage.

29 minutes and 8 seconds-TIM: But... -\[LAUGHTER\]

29 minutes and 10 secondsI was like: "Oh, I don't want to go up there! I'll get a boo!"

29 minutes and 12 secondsAnd then, when you guys were yelling and screaming,

29 minutes and 14 secondsit made me feel so much better!

29 minutes and 15 secondsSo, thank you, guys, for coming and being so super loud.

29 minutes and 17 secondsANNA: We couldn't even hear the speech, actually.

29 minutes and 18 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

29 minutes and 20 secondsTIM: Yeah.

29 minutes and 21 secondsYou were like: "Cover it up! The speech is going to be bad!"

29 minutes and 23 seconds-\[LAUGHTER\] -"Just cover it with-- with howling!"

29 minutes and 25 secondsSo, uh... that was fun.

29 minutes and 27 secondsUh... so, you know-- Today is Anna's last day.

29 minutes and 30 seconds-TIM: She is sitting right over there. -EVERYONE: Boo!

29 minutes and 34 secondsUh...

29 minutes and 35 secondsIt's my last day at Double Fine.

29 minutes and 39 secondsWe all know Anna is a big jerk.

29 minutes and 40 secondsAnd we are going to talk about that, at length.

29 minutes and 43 secondsThe depth of your jerkidness.

29 minutes and 44 secondsAs you know how it goes.

29 minutes and 46 secondsIt's never pretty.

29 minutes and 48 secondsBut, uh... Anna Kipnis has always been

29 minutes and 50 secondsa huge part of what makes Double Fine Double Fine after all these years.

29 minutes and 53 secondsAnd I've always really appreciated, uh,

29 minutes and 55 secondsjust how fierce of a-- kind of a warrior for the company,

29 minutes and 59 secondsyou have been all of these years.

30 minutes and 1 secondWe did... want to give you something,

30 minutes and 4 secondsbecause of a...

30 minutes and 5 secondsUh, to represent the first thing that Anna and I ever collaborated on.

30 minutes and 9 seconds-ANNA: Aw-w! -EVERYONE: Aw-w-w!

30 minutes and 12 secondsThis is Boyd from the f--

30 minutes and 14 secondsAh, I already said it! Yeah. Here you go!

30 minutes and 16 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

30 minutes and 21 secondsANNA: Also, just today...

30 minutes and 25 seconds...was kind of incredible,

30 minutes and 26 secondsand I think I just didn't, um...

30 minutes and 31 secondsYou know, I've-- I've always had a good relationship with people here,

30 minutes and 34 secondsand I've just, uh...

30 minutes and 36 secondsand there have been, like, lots of moments

30 minutes and 38 secondswhere we, like, get to say that to each other.

30 minutes and 40 secondsLike, how much we appreciate working with one another, and things like that.

30 minutes and 43 secondsBut I think having it come all at once...

30 minutes and 46 secondswas, like, um...

30 minutes and 48 secondspretty powerful.

30 minutes and 50 secondsAnd I didn't expect...

30 minutes and 54 secondsAnd I didn't-- I didn't expect that,

30 minutes and 56 secondslike, quite like this.

30 minutes and 58 secondsUh...

30 minutes and 59 secondsI don't know if I could do this, actually, but, um...

31 minutes and 2 secondsThis is really a special place.

31 minutes and 5 secondsAnd I hope that you guys can see that as-- as I did.

31 minutes and 9 secondsAnd that you...

31 minutes and 12 secondscontinue keeping this just as lovely, accepting, and...

31 minutes and 18 secondscreative, and just...

31 minutes and 21 secondsrare, rare place...

31 minutes and 24 secondsum, without me here.

31 minutes and 26 seconds-Maybe I'll come back! -\[LAUGHTER\]

31 minutes and 28 seconds\[MUSIC\]

31 minutes and 30 seconds-Um, just, uh... -You've gotta sign the...

31 minutes and 34 secondsTIM: Oh, I was like: "Who hasn't signed it? Oh, me."

31 minutes and 37 seconds\[MUSIC\]

31 minutes and 49 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

31 minutes and 57 secondsANNA: It's an incredible, um... goodbye card as it were.

32 minutes and 2 secondsUm, this is a drawing by Emily Johnstone.

32 minutes and 7 secondsAnd, uh, it's... unbelievable.

32 minutes and 11 secondsSo, the one from Tim is, uh...

32 minutes and 16 seconds"Anna, welcome back in advance."

32 minutes and 19 seconds\[ANNA CHUCKLES\]

32 minutes and 21 secondsANNA: I'm leaving, but Double Fine is going to be okay.

32 minutes and 23 secondsIt's around, and it has so many incredible people.

32 minutes and 25 secondsAnd, um...

32 minutes and 28 secondsThey are just going to keep doing those things.

32 minutes and 31 secondsI think the culture that we, old-timers, have established here is...

32 minutes and 37 secondslike, it's holding tight.

32 minutes and 38 secondsSo...

32 minutes and 41 secondsI think people, like-- People understand that and they'll...

32 minutes and 47 secondsThey'll continue what we started.

32 minutes and 50 secondsSo...

32 minutes and 53 seconds\[MUSIC\]

33 minutes and 23 secondsUh, Tim won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

33 minutes and 27 secondsAnd he made this incredibly moving speech.

33 minutes and 30 secondsUm...

33 minutes and 31 secondsAnd where he...

33 minutes and 34 secondstold us the story that we had always heard,

33 minutes and 37 secondsbut we had never heard the punchline.

33 minutes and 39 secondsAnd I want to thank, uh...

33 minutes and 41 secondsOkay, wait, no. I have to tell a story now.

33 minutes and 43 secondsI asked for permission to tell a story, and I didn't get permission,

33 minutes and 46 secondsbut then that bartender over there served me four shots of tequila, so.

33 minutes and 49 seconds\[CHEERING\]

33 minutes and 52 secondsThank you, sir.

33 minutes and 55 secondsIn-between getting canceled and getting signed by Majesco

34 minutes and 0 secondsthere was a long period where we didn't have any money.

34 minutes and 1 secondAnd we ran out of money.

34 minutes and 3 secondsAnd, um...

34 minutes and 4 secondsI had to make a talk to the whole company.

34 minutes and 6 secondsTell them that the next payroll was not coming.

34 minutes and 8 secondsAnd there were thirty people who were like:

34 minutes and 9 seconds"We've been crunching on a game for four years,

34 minutes and 11 secondsand now it's going to disappear.

34 minutes and 12 secondsAnd no one will ever know that this company ever existed."

34 minutes and 14 secondsUm, which is hilarious, if you've ever been in that position.

34 minutes and 17 secondsIt's really fun.

34 minutes and 18 seconds\[LAUGHTER\]

34 minutes and 20 secondsUm...

34 minutes and 23 secondsSo, uh, I thought: "Okay..."

34 minutes and 25 secondsI was really desperate, and there was one lifeline I could call.

34 minutes and 27 secondsI had a friend who had sold his company to EA,

34 minutes and 30 secondsand I thought he might be able to make that kind of loan.

34 minutes and 33 secondsI hated to do it, but I called him and I said:

34 minutes and 35 seconds"I hate to ask you, but if you lend me that money,

34 minutes and 37 secondsI'll give you, like, ten percent of my company.

34 minutes and 38 secondsOh my god, please help us out!"

34 minutes and 40 secondsAnd he said: "I'll think about it.

34 minutes and 41 secondsI'll go talk to our lawyers. And I'll see if I can do that."

34 minutes and 45 secondsAnd I sat there at my desk, and it was... just...

34 minutes and 48 secondsI chewed off all my fingernails, and then he called back and he is like:

34 minutes and 51 seconds"My lawyers tell me I can't take stock in another game company, so...

34 minutes and 54 secondsum...

34 minutes and 55 secondsI'm just going to give you the money. And lend you the money."

34 minutes and 57 secondsAnd it was amazing. It was just, like--

34 minutes and 59 secondsIt was just-- had such an effect on me.

35 minutes and 2 secondsUm...

35 minutes and 4 seconds\[CHEERING\]

35 minutes and 11 secondsIt's just that I was...

35 minutes and 13 secondsI was so embarrassed and desperate making that call.

35 minutes and 16 secondsAnd just to be met with that kind of generosity.

35 minutes and 18 secondsUm, anyway...

35 minutes and 20 secondsAnyway.

35 minutes and 21 secondsUm, it struck me.

35 minutes and 22 secondsAnd so, to this day...

35 minutes and 24 seconds-\[CHEERING\] -Thank you.

35 minutes and 26 seconds\[CHEERING\]

35 minutes and 28 secondsThank you.

35 minutes and 29 seconds\[CHEERING\]

35 minutes and 41 secondsAnd so, to this day,

35 minutes and 42 secondsif you play one of my games, you'll see: "Special Thanks to Will Wright."

35 minutes and 45 secondsAnd I want to thank Will... tonight.

35 minutes and 47 seconds\[CHEERING\]

35 minutes and 51 secondsPhew!

35 minutes and 52 seconds\[CLAPPING\]

35 minutes and 58 secondsThanks, Will! I hope it's okay, if I told that story.

36 minutes and 0 secondsBut, uh, no one else ask him for money. I swear, he is--

36 minutes and 2 seconds-Don't do it. -\[LAUGHTER\]

-Don't do it. -[LAUGHTER]
