Amnesia Fortnight: The Kickstarter
Remember crowdfunding? We do! It's allowed our community to helped make Broken Age, MASSIVE CHALICE, and Psychonauts 2 become reality, and now we're hoping it can help this freshly Independent studio to stay alive - that's right, we're launching a new one!
It's called Amnesia Fortnight 2026 - Indie Reboot: A Double Fine Productions Game Jam, Documentary and Kickstarter Campaign.
It launches on August 31st, and runs through most of September, but you can sign up now to get notified when it goes live!
We're going to do a Game Jam, live on the internet, in which our backers will get to choose which of our myriad of ideas get made into prototypes, and which will become a real (small) game. They may even snag some sweet merchables and rarities along the way.
Amnesia Fortnight is a long standing tradition of ours that started in 2007. It's a two week period in which forget about the all things we should be working on to pitch one another our wildest game ideas, choose our favourites, and make prototypes of them. It's fun! It's stressful! It's pretty incredible what you can make in just two weeks!
Sometimes the prototypes are so good we make them into real games like Costume Quest, Iron Brigade, Stacking, and even the Psychonauts 2 brain world Compton's Cook-off. Many new project leads have tested their mettle inside the blood-smeared arena walls of AF, and we've seen all kinds of wild ideas come to life. We've documented the process live, we've made a couple of documentary series' from it, and even a movie.
For Amnesia Fortnight 2026 - Indie Reboot: A Double Fine Productions Game Jam, Documentary and Kickstarter Campaign, we'll be presenting a whole pile of fresh ideas, but only four of them will be chosen - BY YOU - to get developed. ONE of those will be chosen as the winner, and we'll spend some time polishing it up to become a real small game, published under our new label for small weird games, Double Fine Action Labs.
2 Player Productions will be filming all the fun to produce one of their award-winning documentary spectaculars. We'll also be streaming live throughout, showing how these games get made, and digging into the oldest question on earth: what does Tim Schafer eat for breakfast?
So please Sign up today to get notified when Amnesia Fortnight 2026 - Indie Reboot: A Double Fine Productions Game Jam, Documentary and Kickstarter Campaign goes live on Aug 31st, and please back us! We really need your support! <3
