Just who is this Lee Petty guy anyway?

James Spafford Spaff

Just who the gosh darn heck is Lee Petty? He's the Creative / Project Lead on Keeper, our new game coming out in two days! (did we mention that at all yet?)

If you are reading these words, here on our website, there's a good chance you know who he is already, and if you don't, then there's a good chance you've played a game of ours he's worked on.

Lee joined Double Fine almost 20 years ago as the Art Director for Brütal Legend, a role he also stepped into for another Tim classic, Broken Age. But he's most well known around these parts for the games he lead the teams on himself; Stacking, Headlander, and RAD. (And Autonomous for those really keeping count)

But his career didn't begin the day he stepped through our big orange doors, it turns out he's had a whole life before us. How rude! We kidnapped Lee, sat him in the hottest hot seat we could find, and made him explain himself!

In this video Lee steps us through his illustrious career to chat about all the games, both shipped and cancelled, which paved the way to Keeper’s door. Travel back in time with us to hear how titles like Looney Tunes Racing and Whiplash, and super-powered mullets, ultimately brought him to Tim’s attention – and how he's applied a love of themes like body horror, post-humanism, and surrealism to, checks notes up, all of his games.
