I hope there’s a reward!

Anybody out there missing a weevil? One that looks something like this cute little guy?

I have good news and bad news for you.

The good news is I found your weevil!
No more wondering where he got off to this time! That curious little ragamuffin. Always running off and getting himself into a jimmy jam! That darn weevil.

The bad news is I boiled him alive. At least I think he was alive at the time. He might have slowly suffocated weeks ago in the package. Either way, he’s definitely boiled now, and in a plastic baggie. I didn’t do it on purpose. I was just trying to prepare some delicious (looking) Kashi Instant Oatmeal this morning.

And when I poured in the boiling water, your little buddy floated to the top.
I thought at first, “My my. Is that… a rat turd?”
Can you imagine? That would have been gross.
I was so relieved to see that the little turd-like thing had tiny little, lifeless legs sticking out of it. And a mischievous look on its scalded face.
“More for your Heart,” indeed!
Oh, why didn’t I look more closely at that label?

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart Tim.

That is indeed my weevil, it is sad to see him go, but he died as he lived it seems. I have no regrets.

Your pal,
The Guy

That’s downright creepy. It just bugs me that this kind of thing could happen. Some weevil assembly line worker obviously wasn’t properly insecting the oatmeal. The corporate marching beetle go on, though, so complaining is snout of the question.

Thank you, thank you. Looking forward to the invitation to join the Double Fine writers’ staff.

Ew.

Hurrah! There really haven’t been enough DFAC posts about pests and vermin in the last few years.

More please, Tim!

Ohohohohoho. Tim, you and your crazy antics. What will we see next?

But yes, Kaishi foods are all about eating bugs.

Why do the most exciting things in life always happen to you?

Hey, more protein.

On a more serious note: why are you eating lame cereal?  I expected the great Tim Schafer to eat a manly breakfast, like Fruit Loops soaked in peach schnapps, or raw eggs… soaked in peach schnapps.  Not “Kashi”.  I bet that stuff tastes like vomit, only without the thrilling burn in the back of your throat.

Perhaps the weevil was soaked in peach schnapps?

It’s one of those prizes that they put at the bottom of their cereal boxes! Find the gold weevil and win a free DVD!

I’m not going to lie to you.  I’m gunna buy their oatmeal just so I can find a weevil of my very own.

... That, and I just generally like the taste of Kashi cereals.

I don’t think weevil secretions are healthy…

Posted by Viewtiful_Ben on 07/13 at 05:10 PM

depends on what they’ve eaten

Posted by Thorn on 07/13 at 07:35 PM

Presumably this one’s been eating Kashi…

Posted by ProggleRock on 07/13 at 11:00 PM

Kashi? Oh crap…

Posted by XManTMG on 07/14 at 09:09 AM

i was wondering what those things were called.

Oh Tim! Why did I never see your blog (or uh… action news...) before now.
I just lolled so hard I thought my ribs would crack.
Definitely going to be an avid reader now. Glad to hear Brutal Legend is “fine” too hopefully that means it’ll be rawking my 360 before too long.

Mmmm… Weevils… Both funny looking and packed with proteins for your amusement and health. Their eggs add some wonderful hallucinogenic properties to your crops, so if you’re on a lookout for a trip, leave the snout beetle alone!

During the middle ages whole villages would walk around high out of their heads thinking the village was cursed, while in fact it was the weevils! Neat, huh?
