Composed over four years, and comprised of over three hours of music, the soundtrack release is divided into three parts, all available now!
Volume 1, submitted for your consideration in the GRAMMY Awards®, focuses on the orchestral and jazz elements of the score that are integral to the story and gameplay.
Psychonauts 2 Original Soundtrack Volume 1 is 29 tracks of delight that sprung from the mind of composer Peter McConnell, who has created a soundtrack with an immense variety of styles, pulling from his decades-long career making music for games of all genres to give each stylistically unique brain world of Psychonauts 2 a totally distinctive feel.
Peter is a long-time collaborator with Double Fine's Tim Schafer and has crafted scores for every single one of his games since the mid-1990s. This includes unforgettable masterpieces such as the mind-bending psychedelia of original Psychonauts, the sultry Jazz moods of Grim Fandango, the heavy metal riffs of Brütal Legend, and the beautiful orchestral melodies of Broken Age. His work on Psychonauts 2 features sounds that could come from any of these titles, and beyond!

…truly phenomenal music. In addition to [Peter McConnell's] evocative orchestral score—that cycles through countless genres and styles to match each person's brain—there are some earworm songs that will linger in your memory until long after you have put the controller down.
Composer Peter McConnell does incredible work throughout the game, turning his hand to more genres than some might tackle in an entire career.
Each area is given exuberant life thanks to composer Peter McConnell's musical diversity, hitting tones of jazzy mystery in parts of the Motherlobe, while exploring a campfire-fueled bluegrass jig in the Questionable Area. Still, McConnell subtly inserts interlacing melodies throughout, making it all cohesive and whole, despite the many different styles on display.
